College Football Head Coaching Tiers

Yeah, I don't agree with Tier 1 either. I think those are just based on all-time wins.

I see NU as a Tier 2/3 job though and easily a top 20 job.

$155mil shiny new football facility ✔️
Ability to pay $8mil+ to a HC ✔️
Championship History ✔️
No instate football competition ✔️
A frenzied yet ridiculously supportive fan base ✔️
A pretty solid talent base on the team currently to build on ✔️

all this said, i'd put us bottom of tier 2 or top of tier 3.

Wouldn't be hard to make the argument that we've become a more attractive job now that our expectations are in like with historical bottom feeders

Wish we had some more context to how this was generated. I guess there's nowhere else in the country where you can lose consistently and still generate more revenue than 95% of schools. I'm sure low expectations and overall school championship history came into play. Tier 2 seems more accurate.

Clemons as tier 3? List is a joke. Daboo has made that a tier 1.5
The only real argument against Clemson at this point is if you have to succeed Dabo, the expectations are going to be insane, but Clemson basically checks all the boxes at this point, fertile recruiting, instate competition has dropped off, easy as shit conference, will pay a lot.

for those that say Nebraska shouldn't be Tier 1, just answer this question: How many of these other schools have the 308 area code?

Exactly, clear Tier 1.

The Nebraska job is below: Oregon, USC, Texas, OU, all SEC (minus Vandy, Miss St, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina, Missouri), Clemson, Florida St, Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St

Jobs most closely related to Nebraska in that list: Tennessee, Florida St

Wisconsin, Cockeye, Washington, Arizona schools, Oklahoma St, North Carolina are almost on that list because they aren’t as “prestigious” but that also aren’t as fish bowl as Nebraska. Your ceiling is the same but without the pressure.

Move Tennessee to Tier 3, Clemson to Tier 1 and Nebraska to Tier 2 to easily balance this thing.

That said, I’d take any of Miami, FSU, Florida over Nebraska.
