New Commit Colandrea N

More off season Kool-Aid for your glass, sir?
I know it's the 'in' thing on tPB to say he sucks but I'm going to go against the grain & say he'll be good.

I'm very worried about the lack of a running game though. I'm not a fan of our RB room.

I think the WR/OL/TE are solid. But that RB room...oof. That's going to make life tough on the QB.

It feels sorta hard to project since Colandrea is such a different style of QB than Dylan. He'll probably be better in some ways and worse in others, and in some cases the difference might be pretty dramatic. But I don't really feel like I have a good grasp on what the overall picture will look like.

But yeah, as of now RB is definitely a bigger concern for me. Hopefully we can bring in a solid transfer guy.

Funny that this thread popped up again yesterday. I hadn't really studied any of his film, but yesterday I pulled up a few videos from him at both Virginia and at UNLV. The VT film was important because he faced better competition more consistently at Virginia than at UNLV.

My biggest concern with him is his height. At 6' it is a bit difficult at times to see a complete picture of the field in front of him and sometimes to his side. He makes up for it by rolling out more, and that is a good solution, but historically over the last 3 years that hasn't been a go to solution that our staff has approved. So I'll be interested to see how that plays out.

He obviously has some wheels, and he can make some pretty good touch passes downfield. He does have some issues with pass rushes that are well designed (reading those is one of the things the staff has to work on).

I think he’s a big mobility and awareness upgrade. Only concern with him is the ‘YOLO’ factor. Of course we likely win at least three or four more games over the last two years with our last YOLO QB, Tommy Armstrong under center.

On the RB room, I actually think we’ve got some legit talent there. Certainly not all conference talent, but the room isn’t void of talent. EJ was the most complete of the bunch and understandably was ridden like a rented mule. Mozee and Nelson both have shown flashes, but obviously need to improve to come close to what we did last year. I will say the offense is likely going to look different to the opposing defenses given the switch at QB and what looks like improvement on the OL. Need solid, even production out of the RB room and we’ll be OK for what that’s worth. Still a hill to climb to get to anything beyond that.

How sad does UCLA home game attendance have to be that they had to play UNLV at UNLV's house and not in the Rose Bowl .......

Have a lot of people been saying Colandrea sucks? Not sure I’ve seen that
Rhule recruited him = he must suck
Or
Rhule recruited him = he was previously good but will suck at NU

You haven't read this yet?

new here willy wonka GIF

I will go on record and say he will electrify our offense. Extend plays, scramble to first downs, and make our offense more dynamic. It will also come with a few WTF moments due to his 'Gambler' type style. He may have to be the 'running' game at times for us as well...which puts us in a real spot if he gets hurt.

I hope we hear stories of him partying and doing lines the night before the game and just fucking balling out on Saturdays.
This. I want this. He better be seen wearing a full length mink fur coat at some point with obnoxious shades on.

Dump truck sized balls rolling over the faces of every team we play.

I'm worried about him taking some of the crunching hits in the B1G. I do think Colandrea would have absolutely lit it up if he went to an ACC school like FSU etc..

I'm not worried about the YOLO stuff at all. I think he's older now. And I welcome some of it TBH.

My concerns are entirely around the running game and then that forces him to run more than we want. He will get injured if we run him too much. He just doesn't have a big enough frame.

Agreed...the appeal of his running ability may put us in a bad way. It will be hard to resist the QB run/RPO aspect of his ability.

He does show on our roster as 205 lbs. I expect he will add at least another 5 to 7 lbs before Fall Camp with our nutrition and strength program helping him.

In my imaginary fantasy world, Booth turns into another version of Rex Burkhead, and he gives us 800 - 1000 yds of tearing up other teams.
