I actually made a prediction on RSS last week that Cincy would beat Cockeye State by 10, Nebraska would beat Michigan State by 10, and Cincy would be ranked this week while Nebraska was unranked.

I was pretty damn close on that one.

Here's another bold prediction:

Cincinnati goes into the top 25 next week after easily blowing out UCF. Nebraska beats Maryland and still doesn't crack the top 25.

Nebraska finishes the season 9-3 and is never ranked once. Cincinnati finishes 9-3 and remains in the top 25 poll the remainder of the season.

I get where you’re coming from and I’m not really arguing against your point. I just think being ranked does matter (I often see posters argue that it doesn't matter right now). It looks better nationally, recruits notice it, fans care about it, and it creates buzz that signals Nebraska is on an upward trajectory. Even if some people downplay rankings, the perception still counts.
