Game Thread CARDIAC BEAVER SLAYERS V - OLE MISS - LINCOLN REGIONAL - GAME 2 - SATURDAY - 7:00 PM CT

One thing that was striking was the size difference between us and Ole Miss. Felt like their entire lineup and pitching staff was 6’2” 220 lbs plus. Power arms, power bats, just specimens. Even the shorter guys were absolutely jacked. We need a few dudes like that.

Curios, how is our S&C program for baseball? Are we competitive?

Those dudes aren't getting that big at Ole Miss. They're already specimens.

Well, our weights are in a 30x70 room, maybe a little bigger than that. Pretty much every high school has an equal set-up, including Omaha Public Schools.

I haven't heard anything good or bad about Plumlee. He's our strength coach. Others can weigh in.

Nutrition is at Memorial Stadium so we have to transport it over to Hawks and unless it changed this season, it's been close to non-existent for the most part. And by non-existent, I mean at the level other programs at NU has access to. This is part of the facility improvements though; as I understand it we will have some dedicated nutrition at Hawks Field but I don't know the depths of it. Cold & hot tubs are part of the improvements as well.

Yeah I mean Ole Miss’ two best power hitters are a senior who is 6’5” 250 and a senior who transferred from Clemson. Ole Miss didn’t build those traits, they recruited/bought them.

As long as we have minimal NIL it’s going to be tough to get guys with big league traits throughout the lineup. The staff has done an excellent job of finding guys like Dylan Carey who aren’t going to blow scouts away with their attributes but are really good all around players. We add a million into the NIL budget and suddenly you’ve got a couple guys who are more widely sought after or a couple of pitchers with ace potential.

I can’t fault the staff at all for the job they’ve done given the resources provided to them. We’ve been overachieving and now is our chance as a university to either fund more success or settle for the status quo (and probably eventually watch Bolt leave for another job).

Think there’s two gaps between us and those freaks:

Playing in the Big 10

NIL

I can tell you, when my oldest was interning for Dave in the Nutrition dept she would take food over to Hawks for the team and they appreciated it! Not having some form of in house (at Hawks) kitchen or facility to store food is beyond tragic and UNSAT. Hell, even Devaney back then was a bullshit set up!

This new Training Table at the stadium is still bullshit if you ask me. The Associate AD for Nutrition (Kristin Coggin) was born on third thinking she hit a triple. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but what has she “innovated” or brought to the department? IF the ball complex gets the upgrades being talked about and none of it is S&C or Nutrition related I’ll be disappointed to say the least.

I’m not a donor and have zero say in anything other than from a fan perspective but I don’t think the season the “other” teams are having should go unrewarded and I don’t mean coaches salaries

For the love of my health, please get your brother to sign with Nebraska!

Yes, little bro - who's a 6'4" specimen - hit 17 dingers at Army this season and is rumored to be entering the portal tomorrow.
