Wife told me this morning that she couldn't think of anything to get our 14 year old son for Christmas (and his birthday in mid January) so I should look into taking him to the bowl game as a gift.

So...that was a good way to start the week.

Hopefully the bowl game doesn't land on the same day he has basketball practice or something.

Skip it. He basically hasn't had memories long enough to remember Nebraska playing in a bowl

I have 3 sons, my oldest is the only one that gives a shit about Nebraska football. He's 14 and was absolutely ecstatic when Nebraska got bowl eligible.

It made me sad that this is what it's come to but if I can swing it, I'll take him to that bowl game.

I've read a bunch of bowl projections this morning and only saw the Pinstripe mentioned once.

I see the Duke's Mayo Bowl (Charlotte) and Rate Bowl (Phoenix) being noted more for NU.
Charlotte & Phoenix both infinitely better fan destinations. I'm a super long shot to be able to make a bowl trip happen this year, but if I do, those both leave the door open, where a Detroit or NYC is a pass.

NY is a great visit but I was there a few years ago at that time of year and it was extra busy.

As for Detroit, I have no inclination to visiting the upper Midwest in the winter time. Just a stupid bowl for the B10 to have a tie-in with.

We won't be going to Detroit or New York. I'll put a year of the subscription board up against first taker.

Callahan was on kfab this morning. He said it comes down to Michigan. If Michigan ends up in Florida Cockeye gets knocked down to Nashville. Nebraska will end in New York. If Michigan goes to New York, Nebraska goes to Nashville.

Will Nebraska even have a team for a bowl game

I swear to god if any of our marginally draftable players hold out of the bowl game that they took their entire fucking career to qualify for - I'm gonna mail them a box of cat poop.
Yeah, maybe I'm not following as closely as others but I didn't anticipate the team being in that bad a shape for this, at least relative to teams that have draftable talent.

No doubt there will be some guys that hit the portal and super seniors that are just done with it, but I'm not assuming anything drastic.

TBH, it will make things interesting to watch if we are pulling in younger guys to fill those spots.

It's crazy but Nebraska hasn't been a part of the bowl game scene in so long and it has completely changed.

Bowl games were once an exclamation point to celebrate a good season and watch your favorite players one more time. Now it doesn't county towards your redshirt games and it's more of a preview for the spring and next years team.
