Lincoln - Alexis Markowski led Nebraska with 18 points and eight rebounds while anchoring a strong defensive performance to power the Huskers to a 66-42 women's basketball win over Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Big Red, 10-1, used a gritty effort to hold the 2024 NCAA Tournament qualifiers and SoCon Champion Mocs to just 34 percent shooting, including 21.1 percent from three-point range. Nebraska also outworked the Mocs on the boards, 40-33, while winning the turnover battle, 18-12.

Chattanooga slipped to 4-8 on the young season but welcomed the return of injured point guard Caia Elisaldez, who finished with 10 points and a game-high seven assists.

Markowski, a 6-3 All-America candidate for the Huskers hit all six of her two-point attempts and completed a pair of three-point plays, while adding a three-pointer with 32 seconds left in the opening period. Her triple gave her eight points in the quarter and sent the Huskers to the second with a 14-11 lead.

Callin Hake added 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals in an outstanding all-around effort for the Huskers, despite battling foul trouble.

Although only two Nebraska players finished in double figures, all 10 Huskers who played in the game scored, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist.

Freshmen Britt Prince and Petra Bozan both contributed eight points, while senior Kendall Moriarty contributed six points on a pair of first-quarter threes. Allison Weidner added five points, including a steal and a layup at the third-quarter buzzer to send the Huskers to the fourth with a 44-30 lead, after carrying a 29-20 halftime edge.

Kendall Coley notched four points off the bench, while Alberte Rimdal scored three points and four assists without a turnover in a return to the starting lineup. Jessica Petre pitched in three points and tied a career high with three assists, while freshman Amiah Hargrove rounded out the scoring with one point, seven rebounds and two assists in her first collegiate start.

Nebraska hit 41.9 percent (26-62) of its shots from the field, including 9-of-28 threes (.321). The Huskers also outscored the Mocs 5-2 at the free throw line.

The Huskers return to action Saturday, Dec. 21 at No. 25 Georgia Tech. Tip-off in Atlanta is set for 4:30 p.m. (CT) with a live video stream on ACC Network Extra and ESPN+. The game can also be heard across the Huskers Radio Network, including Huskers.com.
