Hannah Camenzind blasted two solo home runs, but it wasn’t enough as the No. 20 Nebraska softball team fell to Purdue by a score of 6-2 on Monday evening.

NU moved to 26-9 (6-2 Big Ten) on the season, while Purdue went to 18-16 (3-7 Big Ten).

The Boilermakers had 12 hits to the Huskers’ seven. H. Camenzind was a bright spot for the Husker offense, as she also added a single to her two home runs. Samantha Bland contributed two hits.

Kylee Magee (3-3) took the loss in the circle, as she pitched 4.1 innings and allowed three earned runs. H. Camenzind threw 1.2 innings with one earned run and Emmerson Cope pitched a scoreless final inning.

H. Camenzind got the Big Red on the board in the bottom of the first with a solo home run to grab a 1-0 lead.

The Boilermakers notched three runs in the top of the fifth on two singles to take the lead, 3-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, H. Camenzind homered again to cut the Purdue lead to 3-2.

Purdue extended its lead to 6-2 in the top of the sixth with two doubles and never surrendered.

The Huskers will travel to Cockeye City, Cockeye to take on the Cockeyes from April 4-6. Friday’s game is set for 5 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on B1G+. It can also be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.

Postgame Notes

  • Kylee Magee pitched a season-high 4.1 innings.
  • Hannah Camenzind had her first career multi-homer game, as she had home runs in the first and fifth innings.
