Is Minnesota for real or did Michigan State shoot their wad and really overpay Mel Tucker?

Quick Big Ten recaps for Week #4

Illinois 31, Chattanooga 0
Chase Brown became the first Illinois running back to rush for 100-plus yards in five straight games, Tommy DeVito passed for 329 yards and three touchdowns and the Fighting Illini blanked Chattanooga 31-0 on Thursday night. Illinois improved to 3-1 and is off to its best start since 2015.

Michigan 34, Maryland 27
Blake Corum rushed for a career-high 243 yards and two touchdowns and No. 4 Michigan topped Maryland 34-27 in the Big Ten opener for both teams on Saturday. Corum, who tied the school record with five rushing touchdowns against UConn a week earlier, had a career-high 30 carries. He became the first Michigan back to rush for 200 yards since Karan Higdon in 2017. J.J. McCarthy completed 18-of-26 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolverines.

Penn State 33, Central Michigan 14
Sean Clifford completed 22-of-34 passes for 217 yards and accounted for four touchdowns to lead No. 14 Penn State past Central Michigan 33-14 on Saturday. Tight end Brenton Strange caught two touchdowns and Mitchell Tinsley caught one. Clifford and Kaytron Allen added touchdown runs for the Nittany Lions. Penn State also forced four turnovers in the win.

Minnesota 34, Michigan State 7
Tanner Morgan threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns and Mohamed Ibrahim rushed for 103 yards and a score to lead Minnesota to a 34-7 rout over Michigan State in the Big Ten opener for both schools. The Gophers (4-0) are off to their best start since they began the 2019 season 9-0.

Cincinnati 45, Indiana 24
Ben Bryant passed for 314 of his 354 yards in the first half with a career-high four touchdowns, and Tyler Scott had career-highs with 185 receiving yards and three TDs, as Cincinnati defeated Indiana 45-24 on Saturday.

Cockeye 27, Rutgers 10
Cooper DeJean scored on a 45-yard interception return and Keavon Merriweather returned a fumble 30 yards for another first-half touchdown as Cockeye rode its defense to a 27-10 victory over Rutgers on Saturday night. Leshon Williams scored on a 2-yard run and Drew Stevens kicked two field goals as the Cockeyes handed Rutgers its 20th straight Big Ten Conference loss at home.

Ohio State 52, Wisconsin 21
Cade Stover and Emeka Egbuka each caught two of C.J. Stroud's five touchdown passes, Miyan Williams rushed for two more scores and No. 3 Ohio State blew by Wisconsin early and cruised to a 52-21 win on Saturday night. The Buckeyes (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) scored touchdowns on their first four drives and led 31-7 at the half. Wisconsin could only slow them down after that but didn't get closer than 21 points.

Purdue 28, Florida Atlantic 26
Austin Burton threw two touchdown passes in the first half and finished with three while leading Purdue to a 28-26 victory over Florida Atlantic on Saturday. Burton made his first career start with the Boilermakers (2-2, 0-1 Big Ten) after the Big Ten's leading passer, Aidan O'Connell, was ruled out with an undisclosed injury.

Miami (OH) 17, Northwestern 14
Graham Nicholson kicked a tie-breaking 36-yard field goal with 21 seconds remaining as Miami (OH) rallied late to stun Northwestern 17-14 on Saturday. It was the first win for the RedHawks (2-2) against a Big Ten team since it beat Northwestern 44-14 in 2003. It was Northwestern’s (1-3) third straight loss and second shocking one at home, following a 31-24 loss to Southern Illinois last week.
