I just dont get the point of people bitching about anything in April. No school ever gets 100% of their targets, and we really haven't actually lost out on anyone yet. Some are trending the wrong way, some we haven't heard a damn thing about. Its just weird for people to be Debbie downers about a recruiting class this early in a cycle.
Fair point. I don't think, though, that I am being a "Debbie Downer". I expect us to have a good class. But not a top 10 class.

This is the current top 12

No one was expecting a top 10 class from NU. There may have been some coolaid hope with Trae being a quick commit and working hard to bring in players but he can’t overcome poor NIL, lack of winning, and the staff’s abilities or lack thereof.

The alternative is that we could recruit players with lesser pursuers, but that just makes mediocrity the structural ceiling.
Whoever they’re recruiting hasn’t raised the ceiling much as it is.

I think some probably thought, with good reason, if DR was successful here, Rhule had his year 3 turnaround and Taylor could peer recruit off that success we could really hit it out of the park with this ‘27 class. Problem is only 1 of those 3 things happened. Taylor remaining committed and attempting to peer recruit. Rhule didn’t have one of his “patented” year 3 turnarounds and Dylan was slightly above average at best and he transferred.

So yeah, there was a scenario where this ‘27 class could’ve blown up and been a top 10 or even a top 5 class. But that didn’t happen and unfortunately people are probably gonna have adjust their expectations. But as others have said, outside of a few schools with super wealthy donors who have loose pockets, there’s kind of a recruiting ceiling if you can’t even finish in the top 25 on a regular basis.

I don't think it is because we can't close. It's because we are recruiting kids that more desirable schools also want. We get them on campus early because that's when they have availability and we need them on campus several times early to even have a chance.

Realistically it will continue this way until we can have a break-through successful season. At least we are attractive enough now to get them on campus.

That’s a long winded way of saying the staff can’t close on recruits

Not sure how you fix this but it seems like we are 7's at a bar and spend all night hitting on the 10's only to strike out. We then look around and all that is left are the 4s.
Unfortunately yes. Not a destination place which requires fully funded plus NIL and some winning and great coaches. We have none of that and a reboot on defense and with a number of new assistants heading into year 4 along with a number of absolute duds for assistant coaches.

There were many who expected/pumped up a top 10 class
