"The redesigned stadium will offer improved access, seat comfort, enhanced sightlines, and upgraded amenities throughout the entire stadium. A newly connected East and West bowl that allows 360 degrees on the main concourse will make it easier than ever to move throughout the stadium, an important priority for Nebraska fans. Seating 80,000 fans after full completion in time for the 2028 season, the plan includes an additional 20,000 new chairback seats to elevate comfort, and 7,000 seats dedicated to Nebraska students and band members. Nebraska’s students are a very important part of the game-day experience at Memorial Stadium, and the noise and excitement associated with the newly relocated student section will help create a strong competitive advantage for Nebraska Football. Expanded concessions and restrooms will reduce wait times, while improved ADA accessibility will ensure that every fan can be part of the game-day experience.

Hopefully it makes us win football games also. That'd be fun to do.
Raising $250M will be the interesting part to follow. Feels like a lot of donor fatigue surrounding football.
Personally would like the south end zone exterior to have the same look as east and west stadium exterior
They wouldn't announce it without at least a significant portion being in the bag, and getting donors to give money for things where they get their name on stuff is easier than NIL, IMO.
Decreasing to 80k is very smart

Agree. They want to create ticket demand and you don't do that by increasing the seats in the stadium. That is kind of the NFL model where you don't see a lot of mega stadiums outside of Jerry World. I think most NFL stadiums hold between 60,000 and 70,000.
Ya, I guess I've just always thought we were in the tier of teams that were trying to maintain the homefield advantage with creating a better experience. Reducing by over 10% capacity is really eye-opening to me about the demand for Husker football compared to Penn State, Georgia, etc.
Was that ratio different in the 90s or when Bo was coaching and we did a renovation that increased capacity roughly a decade ago?
But why? It’s been talked about for literal years that this was the next step. Yeah Nebraska has rabid fans but the state also has a population of 2M the other schools you mentioned are the big school in a state of 13M 11M 23M.
You are not losing home field advantage. Shit, the stadium was in the 70k-80k range for decades and this place was impossible to play.
We can support it when interest is high. But it's statistically out of whack & requires a much higher percentage of the state being engaged than any other school.
What revenue do you lose also? Decrease in what 6k seats? but add seat backs to 20k that you can now charge more for? You probably net out making more
