I'll fully own being stupid and thinking he could turn it around and also won't fault NU for hiring him, it seemed like the no-brainer hire at the time according to most everyone.

Everything you said is true. Even the 1st five words of your 1st sentence.

I will own it as well. Any fan base would've been idiots to think that Scott Frost wasn't at least a solid hire.....if not more.

“Being stupid and thinking he could turn it around” is ultimate hindsight. 98% of college football fans/media/etc thought we were making a great hire. It wasn’t “stupid” to think that at the time.

Anyone think things would be different if he would have done something reasonable like open the checkbook for top tier assistants or would we still be the steaming pile of shit we’ve grown accustomed to seeing?

The checkbook was open, he just gave his buddies nice raises. I am always going back and wonder what would have happened if he tried to build the best staff he could have

I’m wondering what if Moos had told him no way on bringing the UCF staff & Frost stayed in Orlando or opted for Florida? What name on Moos’ list could’ve been our coach?

That’s pretty much exactly what I’m saying. He had an open checkbook. That’s why I’m saying the reasonable thing to do was to get the best that were out there. But at Nebraska we never do the reasonable thing…

At the time, I was glad we got him as well. I don't recall too many people bitching about it being a bad hire.

However, there was one poster on the mainboard that kept referring to him as Scott Fraud. Do any other mainboarders remember that and if so, do you recall who it was? I don't believe it was Tone.

I bet Mullen would have been our guy THEN.
FFS. Just hearing that makes me cringe.

The administration needs to be both smart and lucky.

It really wouldn't surprise me if 10 years from now Scott says the following. "If I had it to do all over again, I'd have evaluated my current staff better and considered coaches that had more P5 experience.

I don't think Florida lets him bring his entire UCF staff, so does he choose Florida over Nebraska outright? It'd be an Urban-esque move.
