Payne was a very pleasant surprise this year (to me). He was widely panned by the intelligentsia on RSS when he committed, but he found his way onto the field in an improving defense. Hat tip to the young man for putting in work and getting it done. Plus ... Pheldarius is an awesome first name.
Seems like a good, quiet, hard working kid. Need more of that.

Saw a tweet noting how all of Alabama's WR's, RB's and QB's handed the ball to a ref after each play. How they all have the same uniform look (no untucked or cutoff shirts underneath, etc) and they are all respectful in interviews, saying yes sir and yes ma'am. Of course, Nick has the luxury of saying "hit the road, Jack," if they don't do exactly what he says, but the little things add up.

Yes, and if the wallet is/has been really open for Frost to succeed, we need to emulate Bama to a degree. We aren’t getting guys like Sark/Kiffin etc to come in as analysts and then moving them into coaching roles like Saban has, but we could damn sure get some regionally based and talented coaches to come in to do that.
The Tide are shelling out serious coin to have a bunch of analysts and support staff, which can give their coaches the opportunity to do more coaching.
their turnover has been crazy for ACs, and yet you’d never know based on their performance year to year.
I don’t really care what it is, but some sort of innovation is needed with the program. Hopefully the resources are being provided to make this happen, and hopefully they are going to be used.
