The Big Ten should truly be embarrassed for last night.

I’ve hated ESPN for years… but that game being on ESPN last night, in primetime, on Big Tuesday with real announcers and SVP after would have been so fucking cool.
I don't really hate ESPN when it comes to production of sporting events. I hate ESPN for some of the stupid shows and talking heads they have on those shows. First Take is about as bad as it gets. You have Stephen A Smith stumping for Ryan Clark to get hired by an NFL team. You have Ryan Clark openly race baiting every chance he can get. You have Finebum slobbering on SEC knobs every chance he can get. You have Cam Newton saying stupid shit like Notre Dame hasn't been relevant in years when they just played in the natty last year. They are just brutal.

But, I will say that the stupid talking heads aren't just limited to ESPN. They are everywhere.

When the color guy openly sets the "tone" for his delivery of what he's viewing - it has to be obvious to the networks and conference. But again, it will be business as usual and they'll continue to stick Michigan grad after Michigan grad in the broadcast booth as if they need to meet a hiring quota of Michigan alums. I think Nik might've been the only one worse than Desmond Howard.

They should have something written in media contracts to swap games out of networks that require an extra fee outside most packages. Maybe you can swap out 3 games annually in basketball and 2 in football and all parties know that going in.

What frustrates me the most is that all I want is a fairly called game from officials - both ways. That's why replay is so valuable to getting things right. I watched Penn State games back when they joined the B1G and they were getting shafted left and right....and it became such a thing that I decided to watch more of their games so I could see for myself. Sure enough, the B1G seemed to want th old guard to prevail. Really frustrating to watch other games and see teams receive inconsistent calls. There are people's jobs and careers that are at stake in some scenarios where a coaching staff could be fighting for their job. Life isn't fair as they say.

It has to make it tough to attract and retain referees with all the complaining. But many of them bring it on themselves. It almost seems as if teams that play at home get the benefit of the doubt - including us at times. It shouldn't be that way, but that seems to be the reality.
I’ve said this for years … if 18-23 year olds have to face the media after each and every game why not the officials too?

Yeah these losers are getting paid over $3k per game. They need to be held accountable and questioned. Coaches should be allowed to go off on them without fine or penalty

Someone can correct me if it's wrong, but I don't think ESPN has the rights to any B1G basketball games since signing the new TV agreement circa 2022.

The B1G is too worried about chasing money, and while the revenue is incredible, not having ESPN has impacted the conference across multiple sports in a negative way. And yes, I'm aware the B1G has won 3 straight national titles in football.

My sound was about five seconds behind. Like Mich would hit a three and then you would hear the crowd cheer 4-5 seconds later. My wife asked if everyone in Michigan is retarded or something and I told her yes - yes, they are.
I have relatives in the Battle Creek area and completely agree with your answer to your wife

The audio for Peacock never did work for me last night. Seems like it happend to others, too, though clearly not everyone. So I guess I missed all the announcers BS you guys are talking about. Synched it up with Kent's call instead.
Sound was definitely not good. I had to turn the tv way up. Didn't really care about the rest of this stuff. NU fans have a way of getting bent about everything. Reffing was iffy but the broadcast team made no difference to me.

You are correct.

Last night should have been a huge showcase for the Big Ten having 2 top 5 teams playing within the conference, but instead, it fell flat on its face. I realize that they don't have the ability to "flex" games and at the beginning of the season, this game had no indications that it would be as big as it was, but there is no way in hell that this game should have been on Peacock, where you have to either have YouTubeTV to watch or have to pay for a subscription. In the past, I haven't had a huge issue with the production of the Peacock games, but last night was an embarrassment. I think that the BTN+ student broadcasts have put together a better production than what we saw last night. I seriously thought this was a Michigan home game production. Not only were the broadcasters overtly homerish, they were ill prepared. It was like they called Nik Stauskas an hour before the game and said, "hey, we need you to come do the broadcast for this thing we have going on tonight." I thought it was odd that he would be on TV and compare Pryce Sandfort to himself. Any time Michigan took a 3 pointer when they were down three late, I thought Burmeister was going to bust a nut hoping that it would go in. The camera angles and production value were terrible. They were slow to show replays of calls, if at all. They thought that They thought that Leo Curtis was Reink Mast.

Then on top of that, you put a middle of the road referee crew to do a top 5 game. I didn't have a huge issue with the free throw advantage as I know that can happen sometimes when another team is more physical or aggressive than others, but that no call charge at the end of the game was horrendous. Hell, I would probably be less pissed if they would have called Hoiberg for a block, even thought it was an obvious charge. How you can have that much contact and not call anything is incredible. I just thought the refs were inconsistent all night.

Just a huge miss for the Big Ten last night, IMO.
I too noticed they showed Curtis twice when they were mentioning Rienk. Can you blame them? All these white guys look alike.

That was the worst broadcasted game I’ve ever heard in any sport. That includes early morning Pam Ward/Beth Mowins classics, Ed Cunningham, the old Fox PPV games, Spring Games….everything. It was hideous.

Just wish there was a way to sync up Pavelka.

I threw up a little reading those clam diggin' carpet munchin' names

When your color analyst is basically putting a Michigan M in his tweet to promote the game, you know he is going to be less than partial.

Lack of self awareness.
