There seems to be far less activity this celebratory year than past historical events in our country. That is a pity. This country is the oldest Representative Constitutional Republic in the world.
Yeah Europe likes to pretend it is "rich in its history" but from a governmental point of view they are actually only children.
Our government is 250 years old this year, though our Constitution won't celebrate its birthday until 2039. The Declaration of Independence is what we are celebrating this year. Even the Articles of Confederation; that document that sufficed to enumerate the powers of our Revolutionary War government, wasn't itself certified until 1783.
That document was pretty flawed as James Madison would point out (and did in writing his essay from whet the US Constitution was birthed eventually: "Vices of the Political System of the US" , 1787). https://founders.archives.gov/documents/Madison/01-09-02-0187
