Ahh yes a sophomore rb this past year that’s basically just a copy paste version of Mozee.

I have been pretty critical of our staff on the portal. I am not happy with what they are doing on the DL and how it didn't seem until recently they were even thinking RB was a need.

Fame would be a very good addition for what I think we would be willing to spend. 400+ yards behind a bad OL in Minnesota as a freshmen is pretty impressive.

Pat Stewart is running it similar to an NFL salary cap model. You aren't going to over pay for a RB in that model. To me I would feel great about Fame and Nelson 1a/1b next year.

Tawfiq played four games - the first 3 then week 9. I am guessing he was injured after week three and decided to RS after week 9 to preserve his 4th and last year of eligibility. If he is healthy he could be an interesting rotational guy. Should be 23 or so next fall - full grown.

NEBRASKA WE HAVE THE BEEF

I didn't remove that game to fit the narrative. I don't take much away from bowl games anymore.

But if we need to include that game, I'd point out that Utah gave up the following rush yards in the six games prior to playing us:

BYU - 202 yards
Colorado - 38 yards
Cincinnati - 206 yards
Baylor - 133 yards
Kansas State - 472 yards
Kansas - 290 yards

So, I'm not going to put much value on Nelson's 88 yards in this game (when Utah was without their best defender as well) as a reason to think we shouldn't go after a more proven RB for 2026.
They were bad all year. That doesn't change Nelson's stats in the game. He averaged over 7 ypc, which is good against anyone.

I get that you don't think this RB room is good enough. I didn't think rolling with EJ as RB1 was good enough rolling into this season, but I was wrong.

I just don't think an elite RB elevates this team more than improving other position groups. I'm also NOT saying that getting another RB is a bad thing, especially since Williams portaled today.

It’s not an either/or scenario. They need to add better rb talent AND upgrade other positions just as they’ve been doing.

We literally just watched how one elite RB elevates the team with crappy talent around him. Why kneecap yourself?
