Dillan Fontus, who notes 20+ programs are showing interest, but Nebraska is among seven he’s seriously consideirng, alongside the likes of Ohio State, Florida, Alabama and South Carolina. The Huskers are at least monitoring his former teammate, Maryland transfer
Sedrick Smith, a 6-foot-4, 315-pound redshirt sophomore who entered the portal on Wednesday.

Nebraska has
offered FIU interior offensive lineman Jaheim Buchanon and working to get the 6-foot-4, 300lb redshirt sophomore on campus in the very near future. Buchanon started 13 games this fall at left guard, earning 2025 All-CUSA Second Team Offense honors for his play. He has prior experience at center as well. Buchanon is currently visiting TCU.
(Update 1/7/26 9:00 a.m.) Two Huskers in the portal set to return
Lost in the chaos of Tuesday’s portal news, redshirt freshman safety
Braylen Prude removed his name from the transfer portal and will return to Nebraska. The Huskers are also trending to retain redshirt freshman defensive back
Larry Tarver Jr., two relatively young members of the roster they’re still excited about. Prude is a slow burn, but Nebraska would ideally like to see out his development through 4-5 seasons.
