Remember, Minchey went in with a Do Not Contact. He had already agreed with Nebraska's pitch. And he agreed to Nebraska's compensation. He very clearly got offered a bunch more money by UK and he switched his commitment. Which is fine.

But Minchey was the 9th rated QB in the portal - why on earth would he even consider a 50-50 QB competition offer? That is such malpractice by their agent that it's almost hard to believe.

To put it in perspective, the top 25 QBs are probably all going into guaranteed starter opportunities (that's the whole reason you go into the portal in the first place).

If you're #9....and you've sat the bench for 3 yrs....you're going to a guaranteed starter role. I find it hard to believe they'd be that dumb to even consider it in the first place.

Minchey could well end up a great player, I simply don't know. He's never started a game or played a meaningful down in cfb so those rankings are purely subjective. I was on board with getting him btw. Now we're are going to have to pay a similar amount of money to the UNLV QB that we were on Raiola. Meaning less money to allocate elsewhere.
