I didn’t address the core content of your post because your post also had nothing to do with what I said. I didn’t make a comment about paying Minchey $4million. I don’t know what Nebraska or Kentucky offered him and neither do you.
True, I don’t know. But why were there 50 posts this morning bitching that we got outbid by Kentucky?

It’s a crappy situation but it’s not an unsual situation for a lot of teams.
If Dylan had stayed tj would have left and we still have 1 qb. We are just wading through the mess of 3rd string qbs trying to decide who isn’t total ass
TJ doesn't leave if Dylan is still here. He would have been a RsFr next year and knew that going into his commitment.

I fully agree. It would be different, of course, if he was surprised by a new offer that was bigger than he expected to get.

I am not sure if I believe Olson as I have seen other stuff to the contrary from sources that at least I consider to be reliable. But if he is right, that is a bigger problem, right? That means we can't get people to come here even if we pay the most. There have been some other alleged examples of that already.
I agree. I don't know if the money thing is accurate. It seems very convenient for his image to have taken less money.

I’m not vouching for potatoes who are losing it over Minchey, although it’s not a great look what happened and I’m not ready to say the staff has zero culpability.

Speaking for myself, what I have an issue with is seemingly ZERO traction on edge players and interior defensive linemen. We desperately need those players, arguably more than anyone else in the country, if we’re going to materially improve the results of this team. Taking value players at these prime positions isn’t going to cut it.

Let’s not forget we have significant needs at RB, WR, and less to a degree, but still offensive line.

These are completely reasonable and moderate positions and I’m not going to pretend otherwise.

Are we allowed to get outbid or not? I keep seeing a bunch of people say that we shouldn’t be outbid (or we aren’t serious) and then someone else is telling me that no one is making that argument. Please help.
We are absolutely allowed to get outbid.

In the future, though, we may want to prevent a guy from being announced as a commitment the day before we are outbid for him.

Agree with the thoughts on DL and Edge. Do not agree with RB and WR, use what we have. It's good enough.

At WR you only lose Key.

RB looks better than previously thought. I think you can recreate the rushing production from EJ if you do go with a dual threat QB and the 4 RBs in the room. It's ~1500 yards.

Both. Most teams are going to get outbid at some point, unless they have stupid money like TT. The problem lies in what seems to be getting outbid for ALL of the "top-tier" guys and ending up trying to fill our roster with the leftovers and guys that might have a high ceiling. We HAVE to sign some of the top guys to really flip this roster/program. We cannot be clutching our dollars and be afraid to go out and spend what it takes for some of these guys. The ONLY way they are ever coming here at this point in time is with money.

We have a very average WR room. It’s not terrible, but it’s also not scaring anyone. If we don’t want teams playing 1 high and/or man coverage the whole game and teeing off against the run, upgrades need to be made to that position.
