Is that actually the case with Minchey? I don't think so. I think NU got played; and as many others on the board are saying, would it make sense at NU to pay a backup $2 or $3 million to come in and "compete" for the starting job? If it would truly be a competition, then you would have to up LaQueef's money to be equal to the guy you're bringing in for competition.

Now NU is in the position where they have to bring in a guy as the starter and pay him starter money. Additionally, you have to have a real conversation with LaQueef about his current ability to play an entire season of B1G football, which he'll never make it through based on physical structure.

The Minchey plan was a less expensive gamble than the new plan that they are forced into. A lot of fans will lose their minds when NU pays $3M for Chiles or Lagway, but that's what will happen.

To my mind this makes it more likely they double down on finding a QB to come in and compete with Lateef and try to spend the money elsewhere than overpay for a unproven QB. Minchey has 1 inch and 8 pounds on Lateef so you are having the same conversation with him about durability that you are with Lateef.

Personally I would be ok with bringing Lagway in at that rate. He had some clunkers to be sure but Florida did play 4 playoff teams + Texas. Now If they bring in Chiles at that rate as a guaranteed starter then delete my posts and ban my account or send me to the lepers colony and I'll re-register as a clown.

NFL demands vs college demands are incredibly different.
By all accounts he’s very agile to be a college ot

You would think the top 10+ paid tackles would be guys that project as tackles in the draft

He'll probably fare better in the Big Ten where there are fewer fast, bendy edges

In multiple interviews, Dana has said they didn't change the offense. So we aren't actually running Dana's offense, we're running Satterfield's with Dana calling the plays. I think this is the source of a lot of our offensive woes.

I lived in Stillwater when Dana was OC there and went to a lot of games. That offense was dynamic. It put up points and yards. I wish we'd ditch whatever hybrid Frankenstein Satterfield/Holgs offense they're running and just let Dana do his thing.

No offense, but the most surprising thing by far is that you haven’t seen anyone here discuss it. World wars have been started for lesser conflicting opinions about the veracity of this.

People get really butthurt when it gets pointed out that we're still running and will continue to run the Satterfense.

this is probably true but also funny that they still only had him “committed” after the previous debacle.

Did this happen in 2025? I remember him talking about it when he came on in 2024 and that would make sense. You can't make a big shift mid-to-late season. I don't recall him talking about this in 2025.
