Man wouldn’t it be nice for Nebraska to even be good enough to get beat down in a playoff game.

Tech isn’t getting any worse. They were only investing in the portal, now they are doing it at the high school recruiting as well.
Bootleg - I normally am with you. But I think you're getting infected by the overall bitchy tone around here.

If we got our asses beat down in a Playoff game people would be saying "see, Rhule can win in the regular season, but never will in the postseason. Only postseason he can win is the Bad Boy Mower Pinstripe bowl - GET HIM THE FUCK OUT" and you know it

Fuck TTU if we’re being honest

I do not agree. I think getting to the playoff would be a major accomplishment and one that people could see as a significant step in the right direction. In doing so, he would have had to overcome part of the narrative on him now and had to beat ranked teams.

I’d say we “see” way more than 5%.
Recurring portal is more business meetings and recruiting hs kids.

We don’t see the negotiations and what teams spend but agents and players are pretty open books about where they plan to visit because it drives up negotiations.
they are also floating bullshit and false info for the same reason. And some guys don't want everyone knowing who all their clients are seeing because they may want to preserve an offer while they look for a better one.

And we don't know what our board looks like. Basically, not a clue.

Bingo. And keep in mind through all of this - we took a small HS class planning to solve a lot of problems through the portal. THAT is why people are losing it so fast on this.
I do not believe this is factually correct. We long planned to take a small class because we had a roster full of young guys we didn't want to cut loose - we wanted them to develop and get old together.

I never heard anyone even suggest that it was done to leave room for a big portal class until the last two months.

LSU missed a guy? They should fire Lane and burn the whole fucking thing down. They don't even have an offensive staff hired yet and the portal opened...How incompetent can you be?

Am I doing this right?
I think they do have an offensive staff and there is growing tension that they aren't being allowed to prep for the CFP Semis with Ole Miss due to recruiting efforts at LSU.

Some of you guys seem to have zero clue how insane and fluid the transfer portal is.

It’s a fucking wild west out there. Agents shopping kids to highest bidder. If you have some sort of expectation this stuff will be as simple as kid visits, kid commits as if it was a normal high school recruitment 20 years ago, take a lap and stop getting so emotional.

This is going to be a roller coaster over next few days. Buckle in, don’t freak out and let’s see where things fall.
THIS MAY BE YOUR BEST POST I'VE EVER SEEN

Without EJ we would've likely been a 4-5 win team.
How so? What games would we have lost?

This is the same argument or discussion I heard about Ek and special teams. If Ek was not the ST coach they would have 3 or 4 more losses...

It's hard for me to understand how all of these singular entities are directly responsible for wins or losses.

we would of lost 18 games this year if we didnt have EJ and Ek

My issue with an NFL background guy being in charge of roster management is that much of the evaluation is based on positional value. Meaning they are only willing to pay a certain range for prospects. College is not bound by any type of fiduciary responsibility because this isn't a business for profit. Colleges who will do well will overpay for every player they want. These kids who have multiple visits lined up but end up canceling are provided offers and asked for commitments prior to leaving. It's important to get these kids here first and make aggressive offers. If NU has the money it is suspected we have and spoken about then Nebraska HAS to overpay the first year to get success. This is what TT did and now they are a top portal destination. You do not have any leverage for cost if you are bad; you do if you've had success. Those are the facts!
The issue I have with hiring an NFL guy is that the disparity between players is so much bigger in college, so you might need to overpay just to make sure you have someone serviceable. In the NFL you can just go sign a cheap free agent and he's still an NFL ready body
