I think the O-line needs it’s own thread…

I rest my case that PPF grades are a joke.

I finally had a chance to rewatch the 1st half. The no good very bad worst series ever that we were previously discussing had 2 Gunner Gottula blunders… (was actually in the 2nd quarter, but that’s neither here nor there)

1st down - MSU sends a safety blitz off the left side. It appears that it was Pritchett’s responsibility. He turns away from the DE when he sees the safety coming but it’s way too late at that point and chases him to the QB. I’m no expert, but that appeared to be on Pritchett.

2nd down - MSU only rushes 4 players. DE (#41) totally abuses Pritchett and bull rushes him into the QB. 100% on the oline, no other way to slice it.

3rd down - (Now 3rd and 22) False start on Gottula.

3rd down - (3rd and 27) Bad snap by Jenkins and Gottula gets completely worked by the DE (#9) and DR gets smashed and his helmet ripped off for a 15 yd loss. Could’ve been a penalty on #9 but it wasn’t called. (Now 4th and 42)

4th down - Worthless 26 yd punt into the wind by Archie Wilson.

I don’t care what PFF says, that whole shit show of a series was entirely on the offensive line and 2 of the bone head plays on that series were by Gottula.

He has horrible vision. From our end one seats, he often choose the wrong read. I know it's easy to say from our seats, but it's just crazy how often it happens.

In regards to EJ...

This is true. Always seems to miss the play opportunity. There are a number of holes that he just misses.

How many of the injuries were S&C related? Not sure what S&C has to do with breaking bones, etc.

Also, a lot of these guys probably could have played if needed.
Poor S&C programming increases the risk of injury.

That said, it’s 2026. S&C isn’t a mystery. The principles have been settled for a long time. There’s always some new revolutionary way to train that sounds really cool and scientific, but ultimately everyone is running some variation of the same program.

When other teams start with a more physically developed player who’s also better at the game of football AND they’re doing to same things we’re doing in S&C, the best we can hope for is holding serve.

We’re never going to have a S&C advantage again, like we did for two decades. Now we sign guys we ope we can develop on and off the field and do some sort of a half assed job at both.

I’m just saying that no amount of S&C expertise is going to stop a lineman from breaking their hand or a QB from breaking his leg.

But yeah the days of any team having a huge advantage in S&C like we did in the 90s over, absent some program going all in on PEDs at a systematic level
