A judge overruled the NCAA restricting transfers (a few times). I'm not a fan of the NCAA, but the transfers and NIL stuff is court ordered, they couldn't stop it if they tried.
Here's the most recent:

College athletes who were denied the chance to play immediately after transferring a second time can return to competition after a judge issued a restraining order against the NCAA.www.espn.com
I think that’s what people are getting at. The courts obviously made a huge mistake by cutting the NCAA’s sack and allowing this to be rolled out without any universal regulations or guidelines. I think the hope is that the courts will overturn the decision in some way if the proper regulatory legislation is put forth. I think everyone sees that the current “system” is proper fucked inside out. But if we don’t have a unified agreed upon system to move to yet, I don’t think the courts can act on anything. Until we (CFB and the NCAA) gives them something to work with.
Problem with that of course is you need to unity among schools and conferences. Probably need a commissioner or some sort of small committee that acts a commissioner of sort before any universal regulations.
Also, not a lawyer or anything. Just stating how I see/understand the current situation.

Yeah, I never want to defend the NCAA but this isn't the NCAA. This is the courts. The courts took any power the NCAA had away.
It needs to be contracts / unions / commissioner / etc to ever really settle down but that even has its limits (for instance, NFL teams can limit salaries, but not endorsements).
What's oddly different about college sports is the fact that uber rich dudes are turning this into their passion project and buying players. Hard to argue they don't have a right to, just at some point I do think they'll get bored of it and move on.
It's the new yacht. Billionaires say the yacht was the last real flex. Millionaires have houses, cars, staff, etc...the only thing left to distinguish billionaires was the yacht size.

The endorsements aspect is gonna be difficult. But they may have to put in place some regulations that seem a little “anti-capitalist” for the sake of competitive balance and fairness.
Technically breaking up monopolies and most antitrust laws are anti-capitalist in nature but necessary to maintain a healthy market. We may need some regulation that puts a cap on endorsements for college players for the overall health CFB. I’m not smart enough to know exactly how that would look. But it might be necessary.

The richest schools usually get the biggest discounts lmao. You think OSU paying as much for guys as we would?

I know there's several reports of tOSU having the highest team salary in football...but how much Player A would cost Team X vs Team Y data isn't really around. Generally agents aren't saying, "He'll take less to go to tOSU" they're saying, "You're tOSU, you can afford it".

That doesn’t mean they aren’t getting discounts. I guarantee you most of their roster could get more if they hit the portal. Georgia, LSU, OSU, bama legacy type programs all get discounts.

I edited my response, I still don't think they are. Agents are looking at tOSU saying, "We can get more money from them" like they do the Yankees.

If the players are rational, which in sure they all aren’t but still. I’m going to tOSU for 600k if nebradka for example giving me 800k

Maybe. Probably depends on the player. But again, agents are involved and tOSU isn't turning down a guy they want over $200k so they'll just go back to tOSU and say, "Nebraska has $800k, match it and he's yours"

I think last year they were highest reported team “salary”. I think a saw an article earlier this season having some teams ahead them this year. Maybe if anyone remembers that article they could post it. Nevertheless, you can pay slightly less than market value for some/all of your players individually and still have the highest overall team “salary”.
Because we have a ridiculously retarded system, that isn’t even a system at all but nobody knows what else to call it.

Agree with a lot of that agents greed prolly gets in the way of a lot it, but I’ve read a lot saying that recruiting skills for coaches are almost more important than ever for the discounts you can get players to take. But obviously I have no real inside info so just making assumptions

Doesn’t matter if they don’t win a NC. BigXII winner was gonna be in regardless. Only thing that would differentiate TT from past and future BigXII teams is if they actually win a NC. Also, once again, a single team’s success or a shifting in which team(s) are successful is not parity.
Until proven otherwise, only having 2 conferences capable of winning a NC is not parity.

Parity can mean 10 or so teams from a couple conferences having a shot win a natty. The SEC is full of parity now. Some of the middle teams in the BIG need to level up. The top teams in the sec don’t have the cheating advantage of paying players now. It’s legal.

I said before. NIL and the portal has created some parity with in the B1G and SEC. But there s no parity across all of CFB. Until proven otherwise no team outside the B1G or SEC can win a NC.

Clemson (ACC team) dominated when it was harder to make the game. The two conferences you’re talking about are huge and there are 3 B1G teams alone that are title contenders.
