I know stats aren't everything, but....

Total offense: 79th in the country
Total defense: 23rd in the country

We've been a lot closer to playing elite defense in the last 3 years than even average offense. We've changed coordinators, spent a lot on a 5-star QB, brought in a lot of receivers from the portal...and the results have been pathetic. Forget Ohio St and Oregon...if we're going to compete with the Cockeye's and Minnesota's of the world, we need better offense...that can create explosive plays and score TDs in the red zone.

Mid 90s for takeaways and 102 in sacks.

He knows how to stop the pass - that’s it. Not a complete DC. That’s what the stats say

Also - our red zone offense is one of the most befuddling and infuriating things ever. True.

I'm not saying this as any sort of justification for Butler to have been retained...he needed to go. I just think the offense kind of gets a free pass, both from fans and the media, when it has been really bad under Rhule...especially if you just look at it vs. BIG opponents. I also don't think Holgorsen is running the offense he wants to run or knows how to run.

As a tcu fan no thanks. GP was good in his prime but modern football has passed him. I also believe I read somewhere that he doesn’t want to coach anymore. Being an analyst sure but not coaching
Agreed, just throwing it out there.

wasn't there a stat after the Cockeye game that our defense was the first Big 10 defense in 10 years to give up a 100% red zone scoring rate? not a single stop, not even a missed FG

Just looked it up. Nebraska opponents had 31 RZ attempts. Allowed 30 scores (24 tds and 6 FGs). 133 out of 134 in RZ scoring percentage. Last in TD percentage.

On the other hand, Nebraskas offense has 51 RZ attempts and has scored 28 TDs and 15 fgs. 105th in TD percentage.
