They have like 9 commits sybau
I agree with the point, but my frustration is this: if we are going to have a small class and our approach is truly to be highly selective and leverage strong NIL support, then why are we ranked 8th in the On3 Big Ten average-rating list and sitting at just two four-star commitments? That's the best we can do with only needing less than a dozen guys?

This. I thought with very few prospects to go after that they would be much more highly rated. Again not sure if NIL or recruiting issue or what the deal is but it is a disappointing class especially with no good DL prospects.

I think the staff was gambling that the program was going to take off this year and help them make their case to some highly rated guys. That gamble didn’t work.

Missing Darion Jones and no DL was a fail in this class. They also struck out on most of their highly selected dudes. Lost CJ Bronaugh.

I'd give the class a B. Still a top-25 class avg-wise but missing some key positions they'll have to address in the portal which was the strategy to begin with. Only class with less than or equivalent commits that is ranked higher is PSU.

People keep throwing out stupid shit like #78 class loading or stuff like that… completely ignoring that recruiting rankings are a mix of quality and quantity, based on average star ranking/recruit ranking we are in the 20s. But people want to ignore that because it doesn’t fit their narrative to just shit on everything. We were told all year this was going to be a tiny class because of roster makeup and the new roster limits. Their are holes in the class for sure, but people see the number and start shitting on it without doing anything more than surface level digging.

While you’re absolutely right, also remember going through this same “always a small class, no worries, we got this” season with Frost, so it’s a little PTSD.
