I think the younger generation has learned that loyalty isn't a two-way street. These companies don't care about you.

I say this as someone who has only jumped jobs once.
This is exactly it. I have no issue taking a lateral role for more money. My employer couldn't care less about me or my family if it helps the shareholders, I can live in my car to help the numbers in their eyes. I am paid very well for what I do but I am in my 30s, I am just chasing as much money as possible to retire young or be able to afford doing something I love down the road.

So the former assistant to the assistant DL coach for the Chiefs whose been a college DL coach for about five minutes is up for a college head coaching job?

Sounds to me like interviewing for the experience of the interviewee's sake.

Get a head coaching interview under your belt so that the next opportunity you get it isn't your first time.

100%
My first job out of college (mainly because I needed a job) made me feel like a pawn in their world. And it wasn’t even a huge corporation and also a company that I have known my whole life as my old man has worked in a different department since I was a snot blowing toddler

I found a job that actually appreciates me and what I do and it makes it hard to leave even for more money

I agree with that, and that is why I have no problem. I've moved 3 times for better jobs. As much as companies preach culture and all of the other BS they give you, they truly don't give a shit. I've had 1 place where I felt any ounce of that.

Just read on PSU message board that Bob Chesney from JMU is the hire. It was from a poster, not a mod. So take it for what it’s worth
Robert Edward Chesney is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach for James Madison University, a position he has held since 2024. A graduate of Dickinson College, Chesney served ...

IIRC. his fiancé Fawn Leibowitz was killed in a kiln explosion in college.

My boss is a big Gaytor guy, said one of their top insiders just posted that Kiffin aint coming and to blame their AD. He has been on the phone about it the past 45 minutes. Keeps saying that doesnt make any fucking sense - to which I replied - it never does my friend.

which poster? theres a couple on that board with direct ties to their largest booster and one gets his info from kraft

Is Bob Chesney really an improvement for Penn state?

On paper, no. But every great coach had to get their start somewhere I guess? And all had a point in their career where there was no reason to believe they would do anything.

But on the surface it appears they fired Franklin only to replace him with a downgrade. If Chesney ends up being the guy.
