There are absolutely no guarantees and I feel like PSU is going to have to accept the fact that they’ll likely take a step backwards if they truly do move forwards eventually.
It’s not impossible to upgrade from James Franklin. But it’s not looking likely that they will.

I think in most circumstances you don't retain guys based on some nebulous "who could we get" but I think you definitely have to consider the universe of likely candidates who are better and moveable and how many you'd need to strike out in the end up appreciably worse
