With the sample size we currently have, I’d have to pick DR. A single game against a really bad UCLA doesn’t really tell me much.

Ask this question after the regular season has wrapped, and I will have a more definitive answer.

.
I would love nothing more for us to pick Lateef over DR, because that would mean that Lateef plays really well over the next two games and we pick up two wins. But need to see it.

If we end up losing the next two, I’m guessing the Lateef talk dies down considerably.

If NIL/money was the factor in losing one of our two QBs then we aren't a serious program.
Hard disagree. Almost every serious program that has multiple P4 starter quality QB loses from that depth regularly in the portal era. Particularly when a backup who's capable of starting is behind someone with multiple years left.

Yeah I don't have a problem if they lose one due to them wanting playing time and to be the solidified QB1 for a program. What im saying is money shouldn't be the main factor.

I don’t think you’re thinking about it quite correctly. The question is whether the additional money required to get one of them to stay is worth it. You’d have to overpay Lateef to get him to stay and be second string vs what it would it take for him to go somewhere else and be the day 1 starter. It’s not like we have to just match what other teams offer. If he’s getting an offer somewhere else for $1.5m to be the starter then it would take a lot more than that to keep him if we’re keeping Raiola. That extra $1m or whatever the number is that goes to Lateef could pay for some really nice players.

Dylan would be gone regardless if he’s not going to be the starter.

Okay but how many teams are going to pay 1.5 million for a QB who had one good game against a bad UCLA team. I like Lateef and think he is going to be very good but the sample size is way too small.

I voted for Lateef, because what it boils down to is the OL. If we had legit OTs the answer is Raiola, but we don't, and until we get some I think the 3 million we're spending on Raiola could be better spent elsewhere.

I think I saw somewhere that Texas A&M has 3 former QBs starting at other schools this year, and they are making a playoff run

The ability to start and get to the NFL is a bigger draw than the money for a lot of players

Well, that’s not going to be the case because he’s going to play two more games before either we or Lateef has to make a decision either way. If he stinks up the joint, then this discussion is really meaningless because we won’t be looking to move on from Raiola in that case. If he plays two more good games, then he will have plenty of interest.
