Help Emmett get on the heisman ballot

Starship Troopers GIF

What a Janky list that is: list includes a place kicker from Hawaii, and Kaidon Salter, quarterback from Colorado how lost his starting job to a true freshman, after his pathetic on the field performances. 🤣

No they don’t, but all of it is just good pub for the kid, good pub for recruiting
Agreed. NOBODY—and I mean NOBODY, including UNL and EJ himself—actually thinks he is winning the Heisman. But like you said, this is just smart marketing. It gets his name out there, builds his brand, and helps recruiting. Plus, look at the numbers:
#1 in yards from scrimmage nationally
#2 in rushing yards
#2 in catches by a RB

With stats like that, it would be crazy not to promote him.

He's had a great season and is by far our MVP. I'm not sure I feel the same about promoting for the Heisman. Feels desperate to me. If you want your best players to be considered for post season honors at the Heisman level. Don't lose at home to USC when you have the lead, and don't get boat raced by a below average Minnesota team.

It's one thing to promote his play and honor him with acknowledgement of his greatness on this team. It's completely different to promote him for the most prestigious award in college football.

This team doesn't need anymore distractions moving forward. Go beat PSU and Cockeye and then let's have conversations about Heisman trophies coming back to Lincoln.

This is a reach. Rhule thinks he's one of the most outstanding players in CFB, so he's saying he should be considered for the award that's supposed to go to the most outstanding player.

Have your guys' backs & give them their due props when they play well... basic coaching, & Emmitt deserves to be in the conversation (yes, we all know the politics of the trophy).

Does the university actually believe that a player on a team with 7 to 8 wins is going to seriously be in contention for the Heisman?

I love Emmett. He's our MVP by far. Just don't see this as plausible.

Nebraska is marketing EJ so he can earn All-American honors and get a chance at the Doak Walker and Maxwell Awards.

Nah. Promoting Emmett for the Heisman isn’t “desperate”—it’s smart. He’s having an amazing season and is literally at the top nationally in major categories. Majority of programs with players putting up those numbers would do the same. It’s not a distraction; it’s recognition. The idea that we should wait until a team is perfect before celebrating someone's contributions makes zero sense. Marketing your best players is how you build a brand and attract recruits.

Agreed, and if he closes the year with similar games there is no reason he shouldn't be in NY. Nobody thinks he is winning because the Heisman now is basically a QB award, but what he is doing right now is awesome and he should be considered as one of the best players in CFB because he is getting it done on the field.

Maybe so. Im just sick of the bluster coming out of this program over the last decade. I give all the credit in the world to EJ, no debating his talent and his workmanship. Certainly not a hill worth dying over so good for him. We win the next two games and EJ balls out. By all means send him to NY.
