I still see BYU in that 5-8 range in the BIG. Texas Tech is the one for real team in the Big 12 because they have a great defense.

Probably fair. Minn and ucla are currently 7th and 8th in the league and BYU would beat both IMO.
Cockeye has only played 2 road games in the last 2 months. Can't make that up.
Since we are talking about about scheduling, let it be known that Cockeye only plays one team coming off a bye week all season. (This game vs Oregon). Nebraska plays/played 3 teams coming off a bye week. USC, UCLA, and Michigan State. One of our bye weeks was also before Michigan state effectively negating any bye week advantage there. Truly incredible.
Edit: also to top it all off, Cockeye also had a bye week last week so they effectively have zero bye week disadvantage the entire season.

Also that’s how long both conferences have had their current make ups.
I’ll give you a hint - it’s a 9 game sample size (3/4 of a full season, fairly meaningful)
I’ll give you a hint. It favors the B1G and just because it’s somewhat close doesn’t mean jack shit.
Current make up of the B1G (strong, mighty, P2) is 5-4 against the current makeup of the Big 12 (glorified G5).
Cope with that fact however best suits you.
