Government shutdown/FAA bulls$@*

I’ve had a hunt for blacktail deer on Kodiak Island booked for 3 years. Of course when the time comes to finally go the government is shutdown and FAA is going to ground flights.

We go Omaha to Seattle, Seattle to Anchorage, and Anchorage to Kodiak. Looked like Seattle and Anchorage were on the list of airports that would be affected.

We leave Tuesday. As of now, nothing from the airline about cancellation.

Does anyone know anything? Has anyone been impacted yet?

I swear if I don’t get to Kodiak because of this I’ll start a revolution.

Per DoT, they're looking at doing 10% reductions, with flights affected being primarily determined by where air traffic controllers aren't showing up for work.

IMO, you're still much more likely than not to be able to get there, but might not get a ton of advance warning if things change.

They're only cancelling the woke DEI flights, so anything to Alaska should be fine.

My dad would have taken that challenge. Drive the whole way with no AC and all the windows down. One arm out the window with a cigarette and in the other some old school beer in a can. No seatbelts so the kids would slide around on the vinyl seats when you went around the corner and the little ones in the back in the rear facing seats trying not to get sick from the exhaust fumes.

Government will be open before your cruise. I’d be more worried about you cheaping out and booking a carnival cruise

My wife and I have some friends who just moved from Kansas City to Vancouver. He drove the whole route in a giant UHaul.
