Alright. It’s Friday and I’m here to make a prediction.
At the beginning of the week, my gut was USC by more than a TD. The Rhule distractions persisted, and I kept going back to the Minnesota game. Certain areas that need to improve still looked flawed against Northwestern.
As the week went on, I started to feel better about Nebraska’s chances. If we can commit to the run, we can shorten the game. We did do a better job of sticking with the run against NW. Maybe holgo learned something. Weather is in our favor. Blackout, crowd will be hype. USC sucks on the road under Riley, etc. etc.
On the other hand, this is the type of game that Nebraska has come out flat in the last couple decades. Until… Colorado last year. Different circumstances, different team, but Nebraska finally got up for a “hype” game.
Now we failed to beat Michigan in a similar game this year, but we hung in there.
I think we get over the hump here. RTDB and quick game passing. Our 5* HS QB isn’t a 5* college QB, but he’s serviceable. Keep the handcuffs on him, don’t let him make mistakes. Let him manage the game and run the ball. If we do that, we win. If we let Dylan try to take the game over, he gets sacked 8 times and we lose by 10+. The cuffs stay on and We hit a FG as time expires.
