Excellent write up. I agree about Curtis but he will be a player for us down the line.

I think Curtis will slowly get more minutes this year and be a solid rotation player next year.
He definitely looks like the most promising freshman post under Hoiberg.
Him playing in the exhibition means he's not redshirting, right? I don't think redshirts can play in the exhibtion games.

As an aside, it's strange how different the redshirting rules are sport to sport. Football players can play fully 1/3 of the regular season plus the postseason but basketball players can't even play in an exhibition game.

Assuming he's healthy, Oogie will get the minutes before Curtis*.

Last season, it seemed our offense flowed better with Meah (rim protector) on the bench.

I do agree with you and Corn about his potential and excited to see him.
I agree Oogie will get first dibs, and I love that we are in this position. But I think Curtis is one of those guys you want to bring along and increase his minutes as the season goes on. Let him dip his toes in to get a feel for the speed and watch him adjust more and more as he builds his game. Would be great to have a full on rotation of Mast, Oogie, Curtis, and Garcia/Berke come tournament time. Thats a lot of size and versatility to work with at the most crucial point of the year.

Correct. Exhibition games for some stupid reason aren't allowed for a player to still redshirt in basketball.

I wish all sports would go to 5 for 5 with no waivers, exemptions, or anything else.

I'm pretty excited for the early season games against shit tier teams like West Georgia and Pickle Smoochers just to see what all Fred tries out. Lots of interesting combinations of dudes which could give Nebraska some versatility that's hard to match.

Also, what's wrong with Oogie?
He's been battling a back injury. He was dressed and went through warm-ups against BYU and looked perfectly fine. Based on that I'm sure he could've played and him being held out is 100% precautionary. Fred already that Oogie will play against Midland next week.

Thank Goodness. Huskers need to be at full strength to take on the 4th place team from the GPAC.
