Unfortunate prediction in my head.......we somehow win this game, James Franklin is done and there's serious concern about Rhule headed to Penn State.
Franklin's buyout is 56m....

In this era of football it is very tough to fire coaches who have +10m buyouts.

Like Wisconsin is in a tough spot if they want to fire Fickel. His buyout is 25.4m, Wisconsin would struggle to pay that, pay a new coach and pay players to set the new coach up for success.

We’ve struggled against Minnesota for the same reasons we struggled against Cockeye. Penalties, turnovers and poor special teams play. It feels like we’ve turned the corner on all 3 this year. We should have a talent edge otherwise, so I’m going to choose to believe we win. Maryland has more speed than Minnesota, but I think it’s a good match up—again, just need to play a clean game.

Long story short, 2-0 babbyyyy

MD. They'll have a big day getting after the QB and will hit some big plays against our D.

I think one is a close game that we probably win and one is a borderline blowout where we win by 3-4 scores.

The mathematical probability that we win all 5 games below is 37%, but if we lose any of those games, I think I'd be disappointed.

But after we beat Maryland and Minn it goes up to 59%.

More worried about Maryland mainly because it’s the next game.

Will they figure out a way to protect against a pass rush? Our OL won’t become better overnight, but do we adjust the play calling to keep them honest? More quick underneath passes, screens, draws, etc would be nice.

If they show improvement there and win at Maryland, I’m not as worried about Minnesota. It will still be a tough game but it’s not on my radar until we’ve seen what they’ve done to shore things up vs Maryland.

Has anyone watched Minnesota extensively? Looking at their stats they are ranked 103rd in rushing yards. I just assumed they were a good running team, but that doesn't appear to be the case. If they arent a good running team, Im not as conflicted about the game.
I haven’t watched them much at all, but I do know their starting RB(s?) have been injured for about half their games.

I think I heard they may limit his touches this weekend vs. Purdue, and I expect him to be very fresh for the Nebraska game. Their running game looks pretty pedestrian without him.

One thing that is encouraging about their offense though is Drake Lindsey is about as statuesque as Raiola.

That's exactly where I'm at and why I had us losing preseason as well. People were telling me it's not a big deal, but last year not a single B1G team that played an away Friday game also played an away Saturday game the week prior. They had the luxury of no travel the game before. Kind of wild what they did to us, and it's the same this year. For some reason, The B1G has us with our first away game against Maryland and then our second away game at Minnesota on a short week. This year here are the conference games prior to a short week:

Cockeye @ Rutgers - Cockeye coming off home game against UMass
Rutgers @ Washington - Rutgers coming off a bye
Nebraska @ Minnesota - Huskers coming off away game at Maryland
Northwestern @ USC - Northwestern coming off a bye
Minnesota @ Oregon - Minnesota coming off a bye
Cockeye @ Nebraska - Cockeye coming off home game against Sparty
Indiana @ Purdue - Indiana coming off a bye

I really scratch my head at what happened to us. For a Minnesota team that isn't great, they get to catch us on a short week with a ton of travel.
These are the hidden schedule things that I feel like go against us more often than not. Like last year when we had a stretch of playing 4 consecutive games against teams coming off of a bye.

Another thing that pisses me off is that when we play AT Minnesota, it always seems to be a night game or big time slot, but when Minnesota comes to Lincoln we get them for a sleepy 11am kickoff.
