Realistically, how many more defenses will be see on the level of Michigan?
Except we had 90 vs Michigan (backing out the sacks) and 110 vs cincy. So not much difference.

I know we’ve talked ourselves into being ok with the bad performance vs cincy because they have Corleone, but we’ve also talked ourselves into being ok with the relatively tepid passing performance because they were using their safeties to discourage long passes, so not sure we can say that there is proof of concept in the run game against any P4 team at this point.

We're at mostly the same spot we were after Cincinnati with the run game and chunk plays needing to get better. Maybe the one real cause for optimism with the O is Dylan is balling even when the OL is waving at the pass rush when it runs by them untouched

I was referring more to the passing side of things. If we the it that well against UM that hides well for the rest of the schedule

I'm sure they will do well in the portal. But Cignetti's 2 season success has absolutely been propped up by star players he brought with him from his previous stop.
So what? He brought in dudes from JMSU. All talent he identified and got to play for him there. It's amusing how people want to dismiss his success as a fluke when it's anything but a fluke. I don't really like him and every time I hear him talk I want to punch him in the throat but I give him his due as a coach. He's elite. I'll be happy when either Florida or 'Bama backs up the Brink's truck and he takes off for the SEC. But...what if he stays?

Did you read my post about Covid?

I'm telling you right now he brought in 4 players who would've signed with much bigger programs if they didn't live in cities and counties which basically made it illegal to workout, practice, and play football for nearly 2 years.

Everyone of those dudes would've been playing in the ACC or SEC if covid didn't happen.

On the tier list of cheating/breaking rules I dont view scouting during the covid bullshit as all that serious.

I don't either. And in fact, I think he completely outworked everybody else. But my point here is pretty clear:

There is no way Indiana has this kind of success without 4 legit NFL players who followed Cignetti to Indiana. And those 4 studs never would've ended up at James Madison without Covid.

Cignetti is an elite coach. His history and resume is incredible. I'm fairly certain he coaches the RPO better than any other coach in America. But I am very skeptical he can continue to acquire top 100 level players at Indiana.
