This team is interesting…

This stat line is all I need to know that this team still has a real shot to achieve their major goals. Raiola is playing as well/better than any QB in America.

I also guarantee that Dylan has the worst O-line out of every QB on this list when taking into account their average competition.

We lost a game by 3 points to an upper echelon Big Ten team. The sky is not falling. The world is not ending.

Heismaiola is still our QB and this team still has a lot to play for.

The thing nobody is mentioning is the linebacker play. It’s been very poor. The defensive line play in and of itself hasn’t been atrocious, we stunt and move a lot and get shoved out of the way because of it. But the linebacker play at the second level has been absolutely atrocious all year long - Watson-Trent and Wright have been horrible in run fits and don’t get off blocks which leads to a lot of the chunk runs we’ve seen.

I completely agree. I do think after the bye we'll start seeing a lot more V9/Merritt combinations out there. Both are much more athletic than Wright and MWT. Both also seem to be more willing on run plays to come up and hit.

When you watch our tackles vs Biff's Butthole Surfers completely collapse and let pass rushers run around them it makes sense why they took him. They’re comically poor.
Pritchett allowed a ton of pressures last year. And not like he stonewalled Mich1gan when he was in anyway. I have no doubt he’s better than Teddy, but is that worth a $1M? I know they shot their shot with some other dudes. Should’ve closed. Better off giving $200K to Seagram and getting him ready than pay Pritchett 5x that

From what I remember, Seagram was a headcase with the worst/ bitchiest attitude on a team that included Mazzccua.

Did not know that. Point remains, don’t think Pritchett was the right choice for a number of reasons. Wish we hadn’t blown a wad on him

Merritt reads the play and run fits well.

This is a completely underrated take. MWT's size has proven to be an issue because his athleticism is not elite to negate the size issue.

The analytics seem to be pretty bullish on Nebraska still. Parker Fleming had us outplaying Michigan actually and FPI and TeamRankings has us as a top 20 (FPI has us as 21) team in the country. Problem is we played a top 15 or maybe even a top 10 team in the country on Saturday.

Reasons to be pessimistic, but imo, more reasons to be optimistic.

Agree with this. I'm definitely no expert, but from watching, it seems like our LB's predetermine the gap they are going to run through instead of reading and reacting. I'm sure it's not that simple, but it seems like vision is lacking. Much like with EJ at RB. I have endzone seats, which I like because you can see the whole play develop. It's mind boggling how many times he chooses the wrong whole and leaves yardage on the table.

I haven't been paying as much attention to recruiting over the past couple years like I use to. It's kinda always felt the same so I felt like there was no need to be attached to it.

But it seems like Rhule really doesn't put much of a priority on the line as we should. Our lines on both sides of the ball always just looked small to me compared to other teams. They say there's that "getting off the buss look." I've felt like we haven't had that "get off the buss look" for our lines, more so in particularly the OL in forever.

I don't think we have an actual tackle on the roster, just guards who are playing out of position.

Need an all-conference caliber talent at RB, easily biggest fail of the Rhule recruiting era.

I don't understand how dumb/unlucky shit always happens to us in big games. Field punt at the 3 yard line, step out of bounds for no reason on a touchdown, trip on a punt return vs no one. Truly amazing. I don't feel like that's a coaching issue, it's a "stop being fucking retarded and make a play" issue.

You have a point on EP. The following chart is all P4 tackles last year with more than about 125 pass play snaps. Top of the chart is the worst. You can see EP.

We tried for other guys. There was a rumor we offered WAY more (maybe double) to someone else (World, I think) who ended up taking a smaller deal for from a much higher ranked team, but that is second hand to me.

I'm gonna bet Nebraska's pass protection is still better than Kennesaw State or Fresno. Ha. But very likely they have the worst Pass protection among all the Power conference opponents listed.

Right lol, I was saying when comparing to the competition they play against

This is the same chart with only draft class of 2027 tackles. You have to take into account that this is young for tackles, these 20 are the only P4 tackles in the class of 2027 who meet the minimum snap criteria. They were sophomores last year. There is a lot of growth potential left from guys who could get on the field for big minutes at tackle in the P4 as sophs. That's why we took him, I'm sure

This is YTD 2025, all draft classes, at least 55 pass play snaps, worst to best ordering

He was a lightly recruited undersized rb with no break away speed who was passed on by his hometown school and regional schools. Scott Frost cruit. How has he not been recruited over at this point?
