TBH, I doubt Callahan would say he was a drunk even if he knew it was true.
He was protective of Frost in real time and liked to throw around the "15 percenters" on those of us that were over him. Even with Frost gone, I'd imagine Scott has some friends remaining in the incestuous NE cabal of boosters, ex-players, politicians, randos and wannabes that circulate around the program. Frost was a made guy at one point and Callahan wouldn't want to ruffle feathers.

Completely agree. I’m willing to bet Deab wishes Frost had somehow scraped together 6 wins—because if he had, he’d still be coaching at NU. So many fans would rather settle for mediocrity with an “NU guy” than take a shot at winning big with an outsider. Deab protected Frost until Turd finally fired his pathetic ass.

I feel like people definitely invented/jumped to some conclusions about Frost's shenanigans, I mean people literally made up stories about secret drug dens with pregnant waitresses, but there was always enough smoke to the drinking stuff to figure there was something going on there. That doesn't mean he was out on the town in clubs doing coke and hooking up with girls and getting into fistfights. To be honest, nothing about his (lack of) personality would point to him being a social butterfly party animal guy... But you can be a miserable unmotivated dude who drinks too much without being THAT particular stereotype. The last couple seasons he routinely looked hung over and disheveled and came across totally lethargic.
Also, Dean himself literally confirmed the story about Frost drinking too much to go to Dylan Raiola's recruiting visit. WTF else needs to be said??
