Ya, it really isn't close at all when you look at the breakdown. We would have 5 times the amount of Dylan Raiola's and twice as many Barney/Robinson's on our roster. That would certainly get us to 9 or 10 wins when you look at it that way. Makes sense why Penn State can get to the playoffs with rosters like that and why we struggle to get there. Thanks for sharing this. I was reading posts in this thread thinking to myself there's no way were close to Penn St.
Franklin has definitely underachievedPenn State had 22 4* on their roster in 2015, which is the year after Franklin took over. In 2017 they had over 30 4*/5* for the first time. They had over 40 4*/5* in 2018. In 2019 they had over 50 4*/5*.
Thanks to the transfer portal I think Rhule is on about the same trajectory.
Ya and he had two shitty seasons in 2020 and 2021 with loaded rostersFranklin has definitely underachieved
We need to have a 9-10 win year to jump start things. It makes it easier for the boosters to spend more if they see real progress.Nebraska can be PSU and Michigan under Harbaugh level. That isnt unreasonable to me, especially now that we can pay guys. Those were both slow builds. Nebraska wasnt really far off from there under Bo. If Bo wasnt a vindicative prick and had some introspection all he had to do was hire a top DC to bounce ideas off of and help him gameplan to stop Wisconsin. Literally all he had to do and he might still be here.
PSU has more talent obviously, but they are also like 10 years ahead on the build. I think Franklin may be a real good comp to Rhule in that he is a great program builder though may have some in-game deficiencies.
So 4-5 years to acquire the talent, and then another couple years to actually be consistent with it. Hope Husker fans are that patient because I do think Rhule is the guy.Penn State had 22 4* on their roster in 2015, which is the year after Franklin took over. He churned through some offensive staff in that time frame.. Made a couple bad OC hires. So 4-5 years to acquire the talent, and then another couple years to actually be consistent with it. Hope Husker fans are that patient because I do think Rhule is the guy.
OC im honestly not sure who I’d trade for in the entire country. Holgo just seems like a steal. He churned through some offensive staff in that time frame.. Made a couple bad OC hires.
Seemed to figure it out though and spent big money to get Kotelnicki and its going to reap rewards for him.
I'd kill for Nebraska to have his coordinators..
Depending on the website sometimes your overall ranking can be skewed if you have a large class. Like maybe we had a giant class of 3 stars and it may have made our overall ranking look better than it should have. I don’t really agree with that ranking. Just more turds in our punch bowl. That is definitely more lopsided than what I saw. Maybe it included transfers? Or maybe I’m just wrong.
