From Herm Edwards to Chad Morris, ranking college football's 15 worst coaching hires of the past decade

I never thought Frost was the “A+” hire but lets not forget that was the narrative at the time. Mike Riley was a terrible hire and completely decimated this program. Id argue that Scott was a terrible coach here but he did leave the program in better shape than what it was during the Riley era.

Going to disagree with that. Frost left the program in worse shape than Riley did. The last 2 years under Frost really hurt. Look at the OL and QB recruiting at the end of the Frost era, truly awful.

im not sure that it did, but tbf everyone knew riley was a lame duck and again riley decimated the program there was no longer a culture at that point
Riley was a terrible hire, but so far he was more successful than Rhule or Frost. His culture wasn't that bad, it was the last time we were relevant in late October. The Banker fire / Diaco hire was just awful and fully tanked the Riley era which shouldn't have ever happened.

I feel bad for Riley, he wasn't supported by program the whole time he was here. The way he was treated was pretty poor. Then again the decision to hire him was awful, but once he was here he should have been supported better and given a chance. He would have been decent if he would have received the support that Frost got.

I do agree that he could’ve been supported better but I’m not sure it would’ve made much difference. Riley was the same coach here that he had been his entire career

When Riley left, we were one year removed from a 9-win season and a bowl game.

When Frost left, we were 6 years removed from a 9-win season and a bowl game.

It’s not close.

No program is better off for 5 consecutive losing seasons from one coach. No program is better off for having the longest non-bowl streak in power 5/4.
