I have to think there is very little chance Nebraska is a factor here.

OU is his hometown school and they love him there - including the coaches - and he has been treated well. If he is leaving, it's business. What OU doesn't offer? Not in the national spotlight, likely no chance at a NC in the next 2-3 years. My guess is getting advice to go somewhere that is in the spotlight and will be a factor to go deep in the CFP in order to maximize his earning power. He's likely planning to only be in college 3 years.

Two of his six finalists out of HS, Oregon and Ohio St fit the bill well. I can't see why he'd leave Norman for Lincoln. He has friends at other schools, and this is about business, not friends. Maybe we tried to get him to portal in December, but likely 6-8 other schools did, too.

I hope I am wrong and he is instead attracted by the allure of returning Nebraska to glory, but I think that is a very long shot.
They cut his money in half this past winter. its all about money for this cat

Personally I would pass. Sounds like no matter how much he’s paid, the family will continue to need more
have to take all this with a grain of salt. Two sides to every story, and the recruiting service guys typically pass along the team's spin. It's just a data point. He'll definitely end up with more than $900K

Fair point. Any idea why they considered his production last year subpar? Was there an injury involved or is it a situation of holding out for more money. I honestly don’t know the answer, just looking for information.

He had about 6 tackles and a sack, but he was a true freshman DT in the SEC. They are dumb for even touching his money for his "performance." A true freshman will only once in a blue moon be able to play in the SEC upfront. His ceiling is very high.

Hopefully not us, because personally, greed can become cancer.

Given the timing of all the events, it sounds like they converted some of his comp pkg to incentive after last year, then he bulked up significantly and had a very good spring, and probably wanted his old comp package back.. They probably felt that would not go over well with the rest of "the payroll" because everyone else was told their new comp was based on the prior season's performance on the field.

I read virtually every school goes through ProKick.

The research I did said there is no evidence Ferguson-Reynolds can kick with either foot. It is uncommon; these guys have to be trained to kick with a differently shaped ball and usually focus on their dominant leg so they can become more proficient. One article said that Ross was the only college punter who kicked with either foot in 2023; the same article said there were four last season.
