I have to think there is very little chance Nebraska is a factor here.

OU is his hometown school and they love him there - including the coaches - and he has been treated well. If he is leaving, it's business. What OU doesn't offer? Not in the national spotlight, likely no chance at a NC in the next 2-3 years. My guess is getting advice to go somewhere that is in the spotlight and will be a factor to go deep in the CFP in order to maximize his earning power. He's likely planning to only be in college 3 years.

Two of his six finalists out of HS, Oregon and Ohio St fit the bill well. I can't see why he'd leave Norman for Lincoln. He has friends at other schools, and this is about business, not friends. Maybe we tried to get him to portal in December, but likely 6-8 other schools did, too.

I hope I am wrong and he is instead attracted by the allure of returning Nebraska to glory, but I think that is a very long shot.

The other thing - unless we knew we were getting him and this is prearranged, the odds are the commitments already made in revenue sharing for the next couple of years leave little room to pay a guy of this stature without eliminating at least a couple of other guys making decent money

Another key reason for him leaving is he’s set to be 2nd string again this season.
If his goal is to only be in college 3 seasons I doubt he wants to spend his true freshman season and his sophomore season as a backup.
He’ll transfer somewhere he is guaranteed to be a starter

Probably not wrong but Ohio state wasn’t one of his top 6 out of high school. Miami, Florida, OU, Oregon, Michigan St. & A&M were. Which makes me think he was chasing a bag a year ago and not trying to go to a top contender, why switch up now?

We need Dylan to give a Tom Brady discount to get more players in. 😂

If you look at who is returning and who left, he is pretty much guaranteed to get 400 snaps this year regardless of whether or not is he listed as first string. And he may very well be first string by mid-season. His weight is up almost 20 pounds from when he was a freshman.

400 snaps is a stretch since they have 2 returning starters on the interior DL.
Their top DT only had 416 snaps and stone only had 88 as a backup. In line for more? Yes. 400 doubtful.

I don't think he was chasing a bag. He was "enjoying the process". He took his OVs before the end, committed to OU in August, and signed in December on signing day. He visited OU 15 times. The On3 National guys all predicted OU back in May 2023. The rumors are common with all 5 stars.

He might see that OU has the toughest schedule in the country this year and know that the coaching staff isn't gonna be there next year.

Ok, let's say 50% of the snaps at his position. That's probably around 375. But actually, I am comfortable saying 400 anyway because he has been in the wight room for a year. Last year he was fresh out of HS. By all accounts he was dramatically improved over last season by the end of the spring.

He is at NT this year because they have bulked him up. He was at DT (3rd string) last year, not NT

he isn't a normal guy. He has no reason to worry about a staff change. If that happened, he'd have no problem finding a good home elsewhere.

Again, though - I am really, REALLY hoping I am wrong.
