Addison Williams, possible new DB Coach

Addison Williams, possible new DB Coach

He's set to be unemployed, most likely, as Frost will probably want his guy. So not a situation where we're necessarily giving him a big raise, but he's looking for an opportunity and we're also a jump up into a major conference.
Per Dean, UCF “doesn’t want him to leave.” So I’d imagine we’ll pay him a healthy salary.

4* DL in the portal. Could follow Mahlzahn tho.

Someone help me out with what happened in 2019 at Auburn. Quick Wikipedia search shows Kevin Steele as the DC there from 2016-2020.
Williams was an analyst/assistant to the head coach at Auburn in 2019

So per the reddit

Because he isn't a defensive coordinator yet. He was more of an emergency hire after Travis Williams left at the end of 2022. He's a good recruiter and we had some solid defensive backs come through, but they all would transfer away. I think he's probably a good defensive backs coach and a good talent evaluator. I can't say how he develops anyone because none of our good DBS have actually stayed more than 1-2 years.

His time as defensive coordinator was not good. I do think ucf was trying to keep him as DB coach, but he wanted to stay as dc. He probably would rather go to Nebraska than get demoted again.

so possibly a good recruiter/evaluator.

Nebraska has orders of magnitude more money than someone like UCF
That’s what I was saying. I think UCF has cash issues. Don’t know how serious. But there was talk that they couldn’t afford buyout of Malzahn if they had to fire him
