I will say this… LA is absolutely the worst traffic I’ve ever seen. Totally worth its reputation. BUT as soon as you signal a lane change, they will let you merge immediately. No one would ever get anywhere if they didn’t.
I entered a 5-lane expressway from the right and my GPS was telling me to exit to my left in a quarter mile. “No way that happens,” I thought. Since it was barely crawling above stop and go, I had a chance. Turned on my blinker and cars immediately parted and let me merge left. Made it across all five lanes with distance to spare to make my exit.

My driving hot take is that the shittiest places to drive are cities that aren't large enough for the yokels to be scared to drive in, but so large they can't manage it.
Like Nashville was super shitty when I was there a while back because there was a 40 mph difference between the left lane and the right lane.
