Please explain

I was working on crew renovating an old hotel when I was in high school and the elevator was one of those old school ones with the lever that controlled how far up or down you went.

I was hauling a bunch of debris from a bathroom demo down and the elevator was too heavy and didn’t stop at Lobby and I sunk down to the basement and then the thing got stuck.

I was only stuck in there for like 45 mins but back there pre-cell phone days it felt like hours. Still freaked out by old school elevators like that.
