Health officials investigate Nebraska child death, possibly due to brain-eating amoeba

Just weeks after the death of a Missouri resident in Cockeye due to a brain-eating amoeba, health officials are now investigating the death of a child in Douglas County, Nebraska, just across the border from Council Bluffs.

I've never used a neti pot. That's weird. Also that would be really gross to use river water.

Shit we grew up swimming and camping on the Elkhorn River. Maybe that's whats wrong with me. Caught something from the river water. Grandpa and I caught hundreds of catfish out of there. Tubed & canoed down it. Spent days playing on the sandbars. Camp on the river banks and sand bars. And in one case camped on a sandbar and our tent almost ended up in the river. River ate away over 25 feet of the sandbar overnight. We woke up to our tent only being a foot from the water's edge, with a 2-3 foot drop off. Can't image it would have been a good thing to be swept away by the water at night zipped up in a tent. We could have had the same result as that Ameba
