It was 7300 yards and not every course is a flat walk in the park on the PGA. Those are normal things. Yes the greens are wild but it’s funny how you can complain about it being a putting contest and then name more than one thing you would consider Oakmonts defense. Hopefully this week someone...
I’m sorry to tell you this but if you feel that way you should go design some courses. Oakmont has no trees on it. It's defense is the rough. If they played it at its normal 2.5” we would see 30 under
I understand how strokes gained work. Putting has always been the ultimate equalizer and the one thing you have to do the most of. Saying that it was a putting contest just because you couldn’t watch everyone slap driver as much as you wanted is dumb. Bomb and gouge is alive because no place...
Why would it be shocking the club they use the most had the biggest impact? Bomb and gouge is old and takes zero strategy. Love watching all of those guys struggle. They are the best players in the world they can handle it.
I’d agree with most of this. The PGA had a model that benefited them and they thought no one would ever get upset about it. Is Phil a giant narcissist? Probably. Was he right about the things he complained with the PGA? Mostly. I know Phil is no where near the most hated guy on golf tours but...
Always find the Phil hate interesting. Guys on the PGA tour should be grateful those guys left. The amount of money and changes the PGA has made since was a direct result from them breaking away.
TBH I played golf today after having somewhat of a late night and not getting laid but was incredibly tired. It was absolutely horrible. I’m a 3.1 and shot 89. The fact he could live that life and play at the level he did is wild or even Anthony Kim in his prime. Those guys have another gear...
I would have to agree with this a lot. I’m not saying Callahan was our guy forever but if he would have made a few changes it’s hard for me to think it would have ended as badly as it did. I also forgot about the Ganz Keller thing. I remember people thinking Keller was going to be our guy and...
We played an incredibly difficult schedule in 2007 and gave up an astronomical amount of points. In all of his flaws, he generally had a pretty good offense in a time when a lot of teams were moving towards a pass heavy offense. He was too loyal to cosgrove and it’s a lot easier to say he is an...
Callahan probably would have been the coach for awhile had he listened to anyone and fired Cosgrove. Having time removed from the Callahan era, he actually would have had a lot of success if he could have hired a good DC maybe like Bo.
