Is that a thread on here? I would enjoy reading that breakdown. Just earlier today I read about their DC last year who bolted to Miami after one season for the Gophers. The coach they promoted to replace him looks to be the most inexperienced DC Fleck has ever worked with with zero prior...
I have some beef with this. First of all, it's unfortunately more like 4-6 in openers the past decade, unless Mitch feels 2018 Colorado doesn't count as an opener because of Akron's game time cancellation.
It should also be noted that, yeah, we beat Oklahoma St to start the season in 2003...
I’d be curious how UCF feels about the response. Are they proud of him for burning the bridge to his alma mater? Do they care? I’m imagining how we would feel if Rhule just took a massive dump on Carolina before his first season here with a litany of excuses that showed zero signs of him taking...
I was hoping Rhule would have brought Snow with him in 2023. But the dude is 69 years old now, took an analyst position with the Chicago Bears in 2023 instead of following Rhule to Lincoln or accept any form of position coaching role, and, according to bios I could find, was out of any coaching...
Offense and special teams can only go up. Also, Holgorsen’s involvement calling the offense in the last four games puts an asterisk next to his name as a “new coordinator” for me.
I agree that Butler at DC is a question mark. Getting some familiarity with the team last year and having a chance...
I remember Tim Beck running this formation a few times when he was our OC. If I recall correctly, the formation was pretty successful for us. Fans had issues on why it was used as sparingly as it was. If my memory serves right, he almost ran it like it was a gimmick play instead of a feature.
Some of the reactions in this thread come across like we didn’t just see a proactive staff and coordinator overhaul over the off season to fix the issues being addressed.
I kind of get it. We're more used to coaches keeping their staff together regardless of results and just hope things finally...
If only... Solich doesn't get fired in 2003 and we get to see what he can do with with a second year with his post-2002 staff adjustments.
If it works, we maybe get a couple more years of being in the 9-10 wins a year department and maintain some respect. If it doesn't, he's shown the door and...
In some ways, it's been run pretty efficiently as is for a department undergoing a staff overhaul. Instead of being obligated to paying some processed coaches to stay the fuck away from the program, they're being demoted to handle lesser positions more fitting for them while they serve the...
From what I've been reading, Tennessee will sometimes aim to have the ball go out of bounds in some precise areas to prevent a return. In 2023, they had a rugby style kicker whose mobility would allow him to hold on to the ball long enough for the coverage unit to have made their way down field...
A- / B+
We have two coordinators that you could argue are Top 10 at their positions. We haven't had that since Osborne. In the past, we'd get a head coach who was a stellar coordinator and still call the plays on their side of the ball, but it always seemed like they would never hire other rock...
I believe Marvin Sanders and Carl Pelini fall into that category. Ekeler left to pursue a co-DC opportunity at Indiana. I don't recall the jump being anything more than career progression oriented.
