At this point just go get the kid and make it work if you can. If it’s a swing and miss it wouldn’t be the first time. I’d say the gamble is worth it now.
There’s basically no downside IMO. I doubt we’re passing on anyone else at this point to go after him.

Nebraska is gaining momentum for a major target
About 10 months ago, Bryce Williams committed early to Mike Norvell and Florida State. Late in 2025, the four-star cornerback out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Western decided to back off that pledge, reopening a recruitment that has only heated up since.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is the No. 217 prospect in the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking, and he has seen his stock rise significantly over the past few months. Offers from LSU, Michigan, Ohio State and others followed, and January turned into a busy month with multiple programs stopping by to see him. One school, in particular, has begun to separate: Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers’ push dates back to last spring.
“They started recruiting me hard around that time and made me feel wanted,” Williams told Rivals. “Coach Williams has been a big part of my recruitment. Around April 1, when I was on the way to Florida State, he called and offered me. That’s really where it all started.”
Williams made his first trip to Lincoln over the summer and returned in the fall for the USC game, getting a strong feel for the program. Addison Williams has taken the lead as his primary recruiter, and the relationship has continued to grow.
Last Friday marked another milestone — Williams’ first in-home visit.
“He came to see me last Friday and it went really well,” Williams said. “It was great to sit down with him. We have a great connection. He did a great job with me and my family. We talked about visiting again in the spring so I can see him coach and get to know him even better. What I like most about him is his personality and how real he is. He’s just a great guy.”
Nebraska’s momentum isn’t built on one relationship alone. Matt Rhule and the multiple staff members have made Williams feel like a priority, something he says has stood out.
“Coach Williams is big for me, but it’s not just him,” he said. “Other coaches are recruiting me hard too, including Coach Rhule. They all make me feel important. When I’ve been there, I liked it a lot. The game-day visit was great, I like the culture, and the coaches really take care of their players.”
Williams plans to return to Lincoln in the spring, and he will take an official visit there as well. Despite Nebraska’s strong position, Williams is not rushing anything following his decommitment.
“I’m not close to committing yet,” he said. “I just decommitted, so when I commit next time, I want it to be done. I don’t want to decommit again. This time, I will make sure. Nebraska is looking great right now, though.”
Florida is the only school Williams has visited this month, and while several programs remain in the mix, the Cornhuskers are clearly setting the pace as his recruitment enters its next phase.

I don't have a problem taking him. My point is more about the state of DT recruiting. No matter how talented, it wasn’t that long ago he would be heading to Juco but now Big Ten and SEC teams are willing to take a chance on him. Like a few years ago everyone was after the Edge guys and now DTs are the big thing.
What's the worst that happens? He ends up a top 25 overall prospect in his cycle?
I agree but the timeline for all these programs is so sped up now. You basically have to take more chances because there is no patience from anyone. Boosters and fans alike.
Interesting with the coaching changes now you have a team like Penn St flipping over rocks looking for talent in the state. Joining Cockeye, Cockeye St, Missouri, and others.
Will be interesting how it all works out with the roster limits too. I saw in BC's article that NU is down to 115 now.
