We may not have to worry about having games on Peacuck much longer

Depends how much money they're willing to throw into the furnace to try and make it popular, I guess.

All of these guys way overpaid for the nba.

People will watch any dog shit nfl and even college football game. Not the same for other sports.

Peacock’s strategy with Permier League is much more sensible. Reasonably priced rights (in the US), rabid fan base that can’t live without the games.

How can it be? Do people not love paying extra to watch a muted and poorly produced live product that they usually get on their primary service anymore!?!?

Yeah, the broadcast suck and just having to buy another streaming service so you can watch your team sucks in general. But their shitty amateur broadcasts aren’t why they’re losing money. There’s something very wrong with their business model. We all have our subscription fees whether we watch anything or not. Are their ratings so low they’re losing advertisers?

Their pricing is pretty affordable, I think I pay $7 a month. (was $6 I think when subscribed) That’s why I kept it. Only got it to watch Husker sports, but I kept it year round cause it’s pretty cheap. Probably not gonna be cheap much longer…😒

What’s the most “we’ve” ever had to pay for a PPV game back in the day? Were they $30? Was just talking about this who couldn’t remember that time.
I remember 30. Maybe even 40? And they were always the shittiest games, produced by the university.

College football on tv was an absolute shit show for most of history.

There have to be people on here who remember the dreaded coverage map. And then for a while, there was a huge advancement where you could get one alternate game on ppv.

But depending on where you lived, even if NU was on somewhere in the country, you couldn’t get the game if it wasn’t the OTA game or the alternate.

Just a terrible way to live.

Oh, living outside the region was so shitty. But it got me out to the bars I guess lol

I used to buy the season ppv package that let me get the out of region ABC broadcasts. I think it was something like $100 for the year

Was that called ESPN gamelan?

Hey, watch it buddy.

I was gonna say it wasn't that long ago we were watching PPV games, but what was it, like 2007 that we last had a PPV game?

Edit: just looked it up and it was Kansas in 09. Nearly 20 years ago....

And 10 years before that was UNL's last real championship caliber team. That 1999 team would have won it all in today's format. Since then....it's been mostly mediocre to shitty football.

IIIRC, Netflix is the only profitable streaming service at the moment, but competitors show no signs of slowing down as far as money they're going to dump into it.
