I wanna play a hypothetical here.
Say Rhule and Nebraska win 9 games next year.
The new transfer qb balls out.
We never see TJ Lateef or Danny Kaelin outside of mop up duty a couple early season games.
Trae Taylor signs and shows up to campus in the winter.

Should Nebraska for after a portal qb or let those 3 fight it out

Portal. I am pumped about Trae, but I'm not counting on a true frosh and unless TJ or DK make a jump get a portal.

Depends on what they’re seeing in practice from tj and dk I guess.

But given recent history most Nebraska fans say the obvious move is to kneel at the feet of the blue chip high school kid and hope a true freshman quarterback either produces at a high level right away or doesn’t leave you in a year or two after some tough on the job training. Meanwhile other programs serious about actual results and not the righteous act of a “rebuild” take a proven transfer every time at the most important position in football.

At 9 games will it matter? 75% will be after Rhules head for those three losses.

That being said, ideally Lateef or Danny are ready to take over…and if not, portal time.

Every coach doesn't succeed enough but he does well enough to split the fan base, other than Corch Frost but that's a separate issue.

It’s wild to think Frost had more support after going 12–20 over three years than the current guy does right now. You really can’t lose money betting on the collective “intelligence” of this fanbase. Some days it honestly feels like we get exactly what we deserve.

Rhule got booty blasted by three unranked teams in his third season. He deserves the heavy criticism

Where did I ever say he doesn’t deserve criticism, because he absolutely does? That’s not my argument. IMO, I’m saying the heat Rhule is getting after Year 3 is louder than what Frost got after his third year — and I’m not just talking about this board. It’s all over social media, local media, and in everyday conversations with Husker fans. The excuses people made for Frost were downright hysterical, year after year, while he kept failing. But hey, here's to hoping we win the offseason again.

I remember being off the Frost train and getting absolutely blasted on a certain message board that he needs more time. Riley this. Riley broke that. It was incredible support for a shit head coach.

Same dumb shit with Rhule.

IMO … frost got less heat bc his year three was covid and he got fans’ respect bc how vocal he was about wanting to play football - and YUGE queers like Desmond wanted us out of the conference for it .

Just my $0.02

The problem with Rhule now is he is entering year 4, and we have no identity on either side of the ball. If there was 1 thing I thought he would do for sure, it would be improve our play along the Lines of scrimmage...and that is the area where we are the weakest. He is running out of excuses. He keeps saying its "All on the coaches...we haven't coached them well enough." Well, if we go 5-7, 6-6...what's that say about his coaching?

I like MR and I think he's been good for the program, but the end of the season left a bitter taste in everyone's mouth. It feels like the program has no momentum...the only way he is going to reacpture that is by upsetting a team like Ohio St, Indiana, or Oregon. Otherwise, we are basically Rutgers with better fans and more money. And it certainly doesn't help his cause that basketball is in the top 10 and doing it with bottom 1/3 NIL budget in the BIG.

No, it's not the same with Rhule. There were WAY more Frost supporters after 4 terrible seasons than there are Rhule supporters after just 3 seasons.

I don't know why people keep writing this. I lived through both eras. Rhule is getting more hate after back to back bowl seasons than Frost got in his first 4 seasons. It's really amazing. The masses didn't turn against Frost until the 2022 season (the one that started in Ireland).

I'm not white knighting for Rhule, I'm just saying I'm amazed at the difference. We had grown men on here in tears during the Frost era saying "Man, just give me ONE bowl game!! That's all I want!" Rhule has made 2 in a row - the last one a good bowl at a pretty good location BTW - and those same guys are now like "Fire this Rhule schmuck, he sucks."

It's not logically consistent. And reeks of grown men being hysterical and emotional and not tethered to reality.

Yep. That's me. Hysterical and emotional and not tethered to reality.
