What do you do?

I'm a Director of Learning & Development. Have you ever watched a terrible training video about Sexual Harassment or Cultural Competence?

I might have designed and produced it.

If you have ever hated sitting through a leadership development course about a bunch of bull shit? I might be leading it.

I enjoy the fuck out of being hated.

No offense and with all due respect - but - fuck you!

Out of college I went to work for Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor. Did that for a few years and hated it so moved to Vail, CO to be a Ski Bum for a winter. Loved it there. Ended up buying the Live Music Venue I worked at for 7 years. Best but also most stressful 5 years of my life as Sept 11th kicked us in the nuts for a few years and then our asshole Billionaire Landlord decided to tear the building down so he could build a $550 million monstrosity that did not include plans for a Live Music Venue. I bounced around a little doing business consulting and helping run businesses while also doing some Real Estate along with Live Music. Had a crazy baby mama that I was following around so ended up in Illinois, which is a state nobody should have to live in. Ran restaurants there until the day after my daughter left for college. Moved to the Lake of the Ozarks to full time to concentrate on Real Estate. Love it. Long hours sometimes but I get to boat 150-200 hrs a year and even show homes sometimes by boat. Figured I was going to retire down here so why not move here to work instead of some big city. Love the Lake Life!!!
Which venue? Are you talking about the old mall? Was it 8150? Those were the best days in Vail... has never been the same since that plaza went away.

Yeah 8150 at the Crosswords Shopping Center. I worked at Garton's, which was there before 8150. I was looking at buying or building a hotel/restaurant/bar on the beach in Costa Rica. Had even put in some offers on properties. Then Garton's closed so I decided I would buy that instead. Had so many people come to me begging me to buy Garton's so we could still have Live Music in Vail. I opened it in Dec 1999 and then the landlord decided he was tearing down the building. He finally told us he was tearing it down May of 2004 so I basically gave it to one of my business partners. It had no value as they were going to tear it down in 8 months. But ultimately it didn't get torn down for 3-4 more years. I take no responsibility for those years as I know it was a bit of a mess at times.

I loved 8150 and was an amazing experience. Had so much fun and had a great staff. It's not often you have a job that you love. I worked 100 hours a week sometimes and didn't care because I loved it. So much fun booking bands and dealing with them. Watching people going nuts during a concert. Lots of smiles, it was so worth it

Been working with my dad and uncle on our 4,000 acre crop farm for about 15 years now. Then dad and myself decided 9 years ago it would be fun to get a contract with a chicken company and build a layer barn that can house 40+ thousand birds and collect eggs every day. I stay pretty busy all year long.

today I made a 57 year old multiple time convicted sex offender cry in Court when I made sure the Judge read into the record that the next Hearing is perfunctory because the only sentence the Defendant can receive is natural life

have fun in DOC for the rest of your life, save the taxpayers some money and kill yourself

Considering changing career paths at the ripe young age of 36.

What do you do and can I do it? Full disclosure, I'm greedy and like money. Does your career path have anything to do with your degree (if you have one)? I'm just mostly curious about what everyone does.

I worked in telecom/IT for 13 years and made a change about 3 years ago. Considering going back or making another change.

Sorry if this has been done, didn't feel like searching for it.
Black market chili dogs. The hours are shit, but pays well.

I'd avoid careers that are predicted to suffer due to the rise of AI

You have a technical background. I'd look into controls engineering myself if I'm ever forced to look for another job but I work primarily in production and focus on the material handling side of things.
My son does this for Siemen's. Busy, busy job.

Anyone on here work in either the Private Equity or Finance/Treasury/Supply Chain space for large corporates ($100M+ revenue) and interested in connecting?

My team optimizes working capital by unlocking trapped cash and implements operational improvements to sustain the cash release that also often result in EBITDA benefits. The cash benefit is often ~10% of annual revenue but can be higher/lower based on circumstances.

Would love to connect with any Husker fans in this space where the relationship could be mutually beneficial.
This is definitley the guy who steers the conversation towards work in social settings so he can tell everyone he’s a consultant. Worst of the worst.
